Yesterday I found out:

I have to work half a day on Christmas eve at the bank I am employed, which means I can't fly out to Cali to see my family (which I had promised this year to come) until Christmas day. I told my family this, and they said only seeing me for 2-3 days before flying back isn't worth it, and just to stay home.

My great grand-daddy died. He was a war hero, and a wonderful, wonderful man. I was lucky to have him for so long.

My HB got laid off to part time. He's been wanting to go part time anyways to farm, but, we've both had a lot of expenses come up that made us put off that decision, and now it was forced upon us at a horrible time. (Right before Christmas, my birthday, we were planning to take our honeymoon in the winter, etc. etc.) He works for a small business, and is the second in charge to the owner. He's not sure how long the business will last without him, as the owner is never around and doesn't know how to run the business, and put a down payment towards the business on a whim. (He's never ran a business, never kept a job for over two years, etc. etc.)

I'm hoping the storm in my life is over for a little while!

Prayers sent. I know things can be hard, but I really believe that sometimes we need an external push to make changes that will be good for us in the long run.

I am sorry about your grand daddy. Hugs.

Only seeing you for 2-3 days, so its not worth it, stay home?? My feelings would have been crushed by those thoughtless words. Any amount of time spent with family is soooooooooo worth it, cause you NEVER know when it will be the last!! I am soooo very sorry for your loss of your Great Granddaddy, may he rest in peace, and you have peace in your heart.

Megan, So sorry about your great grandpa, keep the good times close to your heart. I'm with Teresa, that was just plain mean, your feelings must be so hurt. I would give anything to spend 2-3 days with my recently passed grandma this Christmas. She is so right any day could be your last, each one needs to be treasured. You could come see me in California for Christmas even for 2-3 days :)

Warm Wishes
Jennifer

Hahaha! Northern California is my home town-I grew up in Martinez and moved to Sacramento when I was 18.

Yeah, my parents (read: mom) said that. She doesn't think its worth it emotionally, or monetarily, to come for only 2-3 days. :( I have a hard time believing a week would be enough! She's very upset about me moving. I moved about a year ago, and I know it was the right decision, but, I'm an only child, so she's very attached to me.

Roxy, I too think that this push is going to be for the best, but, sometimes it's hard to see the forest for the trees, if that makes sense.

Well, we're hanging in there. It's a day to day thing. Being newlyweds (married on the third of Oct) and being hit with this is hard. we didn't take a honeymoon, we had the wedding here at home, nobody helped us, etc. etc., the stress levels in our lives have been astronomical. and for these things to happen just really topped it off.

My DH is trying his best to make farming work for us; I hope it will. It's just hard for me, at this point, to see the light at the end of the tunnel, I guess.

I also am battling the fact that he's at home farming, and doesn't have time to help me with anything around the house. I really have a hard time with leaving at 6:30, working all day, running errands for the house, picking up stuff for him, coming home at about 6-6:30 at night, then cleaning, cooking dinner, checking my chickens, etc. When this whole thing happened, I asked since he was home, if he could help around the house a little, and he said "Of course I'll help!" Well, helping to him means washing a dish, or moving clothes from the washer to the dryer once in awhile. And most of this is done as I'm pulling up in the drivway.

And I'm trying not to feel like a martyr, because having a martyr attitude isn't the sort of attitude that God blesses...but, I just can't help how I feel at this point. When I was staying at home, and he was working, I did farm stuff (setting tobacco, cleaning the barn, feeding cattle) AND made sure that the house was spotless, the fire was lit in the woodstove, dinner was on the table, cleaned up afterward, etc. etc. When we were BOTH working full time, I still cleaned and did the chores and cooked when I could.

This has turned into a HUGE, LONG rant, but, I think it's just so much happening at once is really weighing on me, and making things that wouldn't irritate me normally, really get me worked up.
