Hello all Farm Girl Friends!
We have had some farm girls interested in signing up for Farm Friends (rules below). Here is what I propose...
For those of you who are new and wishing to join, simply post on this forum that you are interested in a farm friend and those on this site can reply and you can send emails/snail mail back and forth...like pen pals! The rules can be seen below if you need them.
For those of you already enrolled and wishing to drop out (as some have already done due to hardships, etc) please post on this forum that you are dropping out and wish to put up the name of your current farm friend to be 'picked up' by someone else. Be sure to post the name only (not the full address) of the gal you had and anyone here that reads your post and is interested in picking up the dropped name, will simply send that dropped name an email from this forum (you'll find her by name in the membership area). They will email her or post to her, expressing an interest in becoming her new farm friend. If she is indeed interested, she can then email her address to her brand new farm friend!
This will be more fun I think...less confusion and less work for this urban farm girl/law student!
Here are the general rules:
1. The MJF Farm Friend will begin on every new magazine issue - example: the spring issue you should have received in the mail already or fairly soon - just browse the magazine and base your gift on the main themes of the current issue.
2. Within 2-4 weeks for each issue, hunt around for a gift or make one yourself (you may need the full 4 weeks which is why I gave that for a timeline). Please do not spend more than $10.00 which includes shipping. Here's an example: one issue was 'preserving the harvest'. I may send out a little charming jar with preserve making items in it, hard to find teas with a small jar of honey, or a pumpkin candle, etc. In the barnquilts issue, well...the sky's the limit on that one! A quilt piece, a quilting how-to book, or a small sewing kit..etc.
3. With your gift, send a little note or letter, as hand written letters are so rare these days! This is the real gift!
4. If you wish to discontinue with your farm friend, please contact them directly, and don't forget to post her name only on this forum.
It's amazing how fast relationships develop! I love it!
Thanks everyone, and have fun!! |

This is a wonderful idea. On a similar idea, I started a handwritten newsletter that comes out seasonally and we had a handwork exchange for this past Autumn's issue. It is so much fun to receive things in the mail and to read the written word on paper. I will be emailing you to sign up. Thank you! I couldn't agree more Tonya! The only things I get in the mail these days are bills and items I purchase myself! :( I saw your blog and love your big family! At our home, it's just me, my sweetheart and my cat, and coming from a big family of 10 there are times when I miss the bustling household! I'm looking forward to your email!

Is it ever neat! I can't wait to get this going. I need to get studying for my midterms now, but I can't help but check in on this forum once in while each day. Hehe!
