Lately I've been cooking for two. New boyfriend and he doesn't mind that I experiment on him, which is good, because I usually have no idea what I'm going to make until I start pulling out the recipe books. It's been fun and several dishes have been added to the "must do in future" list. So far nothing has bombed. He's coming over again tonight so back to the books. The best part is he helps clean up.

So what are you making tonight?

No clue. I have trouble planning ahead. I can usually come up with a main dish but the sides are a problem. Any hints would be appreciated!

I think I am going to put a pork roast into the crockpot and serve it with salad and acorn squash. Rachal Ray had a great recipe on yesterday that used squash and a spinach pesto. Going to try and get that recipe if my dial up will allow.

DH called at lunch time and has decided he wants bacon and eggs for supper. I usually make hashbrowns and muffins or pancakes to go along with it. We do "breakfast for dinner" at least once a week.

Side ideas: macaroni and cheese (a staple at our house), scalloped potatoes, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, creamed peas with baby onions, fried potatoes, seasoned rice, green bean casserole, baked sweet potatoes, sweet potatoe casserole. I'm just naming off several things I have fixed, I get tired of trying to come up with something different every night. So, I hope this helps someone.

Don't know about tonight, but tomorrow night, it's going to be a native American recipe called Quepheda which is a pumpkin or other winter squash, cut in half, scoop out the pulp/seeds, rub the inside with oil and put rice, meat, apples/pear, whatever you have inside with sage and onions, then bake until soft.

I'm having left over pizza. Hubby is away until Friday so I guess I have a few nights off. Friday night we'll have meatloaf, mashed taters, creamed corn and some sorta homemade bread. I'm also making applesauce bread and pumpkin pecan raisin cookies with brown butter frosting for desert. Yummy!!

Warm Wishes
Jennifer

Shrimp sauted in a small amount of butter and capers and garlic. Then throw in some pesto sauce..... toss with angel hair pasta and serve with a salad.

Ciao,

Homemade chicken noodle soup (broth & noodles from scratch), and home-baked sourdough bread. For dessert, apple crisp!

I also made homemade chicken noodle soup for tonight, I always make enough so I can freeze some. I make extra crusty french rolls and a spinach and craisin salad

Tonight we had homemade calzones and a individual pizza for my 6 year old son. They are our favorite Friday night dish. For dessert I had baked a apple chocolate cake.
