Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year. Today it was windy and cold! Wow, we had to get our jackets and tennies out. And so I took some photos of some of the fall things I have put out at the house. Now to go get cider! :)

Had the first fire in the fireplace last night. It was SO nice! Hubby toted the wood, thank goodness.

Added a couple more photos. Question: is the pumpkin on the floor of our hearth real or fake?

LOL, I can't even imagine it ever being that cold in Florida, let alone having fireplaces in the homes. Anyway, love the decor, very Fall festive.

Teresa - way up in the northern part of FLorida, you will find it is nothing like the postcard Florida of vacationland. Huge old oaks, spanish moss, and we do get what most folks would think of as an extended fall, because our winter is like most of fall in the other parts of the country. We get freezes, and the once in 20 year light snow. The leaves do not turn until late November or even early December, and even then they are mixed with so many evergreens, that it is not full color. I love it, because fall is my favorite. Is that the same in California?

Jennifer - love your table and your chandelier! What a nice dining room!

Mary Jane in New York - thank you!

Shirley, it would depend on what part of California. I live in a mountain valley in the high desert, we get very hot in the summer, sometimes up to 115 degrees, and in the winter we get snow, not like the mid west or the east, but last Dec, we had 13 ins in 1 afternoon. We have had freezes as early as the 1st week of Sept, and its been in the 90s at Thanksgiving. Usually we have 4 seasons. Now down in the southern part of the state, like San Diego, they don't get what most would consider a winter, then the northern part of the state gets a more severe winter usually. We have well known ski resorts, i.e., Moutain high, Big Bear, Mammoth, and theres South Lake Tahoe.

Oh I love your home and double love your fireplace. I grew up in the mountains of CA and only had wood heat for our home. I could watch the fire for hours and fell asleep many time right on the floor in front of it. I'd get up when it died down and the living room would start to get cold. I have a dear friend that lives in Pensacola FL and he uses a fireplace a lot. When I was stationed in Cocoa Beach we had a fireplace but never uses it but once. Then I had to turn the A/C way down low to freeze the house to light a fire. I was home sick I believe. LOL The color of your living room looks familiar, oh right that's the same color as my bedroom. LOL

Smiles, Melody June

Back to the 80's again today. No fire tonight. But a warm sunny day that is for sure.
