Theresa,

I would love to help as well. Please email the details. I can knit or crochet the hats. All I need is a pattern. This is such a wonderful cause. Thank you for telling us about it.

There is a fabric cap, too. It was a simple design but cute. I don't crochet of knit much but would be comfortable sewing these. I received one after my chemo. I don't remember the the organization that provided it, but can find out from Mayo. So if anyone is interested I could share a pattern.

Hooray! Sister Support, gotta love it! Thank you SO SO much ladies!

These chemo caps (caps to cover chilly or hairless heads of those going through or recovering from chemotherapy for cancer or other serious illnesses) are donated to patients in need all over the US.

Here is some info from their site:

Yarn Suggestions
Please use one of the yarns from the folowing list:

Caron Simply Soft
Lion Cotton Ease
Lion Microspun
Naturally Caron Spa
Moon & Stars Red Heart
Plymouth Jeannee
TLC Baby Amore
TLC Cotton Plus
Carefree Cotton Red Heart

We also need sleep caps made from: Moon & Stars by Red Heart

Ideas for Chemo Caps

Thinner, seamless, non-lumpy caps are good for sleeping and increased comfort.
Hats made with thinner yarn would be better for summer weather use.
Cotton Blend Yarns are great for summer hats and warmer climates, as it is cooler than other types of yarn.
Seamless Caps are more comfortable and better for sleeping in.

Here is a link to some of their patterns: http://www.knots-of-love.org/mylink.php?id=3143 but you may use any pattern you like, keeping in mind comfort.

Hi Everyone!
I'm a new member of the Sisterhood and would love to help. When do these caps need to be finished and sent in? Who should I send the finished caps to? I love knitting and can't wait to get started!

Kelly,

First off. . . Welcome! You'll love it here!

The Farmgirl Philanthropy chapter does quarterly projects for charity. This 4th quarter project will end on Jan.1 I would really love for Farmgirls to send their caps to me, so that I may photograph our contribution all together before sending it on to Knots of Love. However, you may also send your caps directly to the organization with a form provided on their website.
