Okay, I need quite a bit of one color of embroidery thread plus some other colors I have 2 packages / of a embroidery quilt project I am going to do but, I need the embroidery thread they call for Dmc I have check JoAnn's -- Create for less-- Herschners and Mary Maxim you have to buy a certain no. in some of those place JoAnn's it would be $50.00 for 26 skeins of one color I need not counting the others. Any ideas as where I can get it cheaper on line? thanks hugs sheila
Sheila, I don't have any suggestions about a cheaper place to buy DMC but I do know that it is the only floss that is colorfast so don't be tempted to substitute another brand. Also, their dye lots are extremely consitent so you probably don't have to buy all of it once. Good luck with your project Michele
Since you haven't started the project yet, and are making a considerable investment, you might think about using Sulky 40 weight thread on a spool rather than DMC floss. You can probably match the color fairly closely. The benefits are that you don't have to separate the floss into strands and it doesn't twist as much. A much easier product to use and it gives a beautiful result with just one strand of thread as thick as two strands of DMC.

Thanks Michele I won't be tempted to use another brand as I love Dmc Simply flowers-- Jamie thanks for the suggestion but seeing as I need about 36 of a one color and 26 of another color it would be cost to much as I have about 24 or more quilt blocks to do Thanks Melody but our Wall- Marts doesn't sell embroidery thread any more I found this place on line http://www.ceciliassamplers.com/ that has it for 42 cents a skein I am going to order the ones that I need the most and buy the rest here in town. thanks for the suggestions. hugs sheila
