I have been taking sewing lessons to get back in sewing. The lessons are at a Hancock Fabric store and they have a sale going on and I got a Serger today and the teacher taught me how to load the thread and yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa I am serging. Now onto other things.

Congrats, Suzi! Best of luck with it. I have one that has been sitting in the original box for about a year and a half. Yes, I do plan on using it sometime, lol. But honestly, I am a bit intimidated as well. I wish that I could take a class on how to use mine but there is nothing around here. Take care and best of luck with your new machine.

You will Love it I can not live with out mine. Just go for it the only thing you have to watch out for is don't use pins or place them so that the run along the same way as your sewing. Yhe cutters will take off the excess but just watch that you don't get what you don't want sewed in the needles and you won't have to worry about cutting the fabric and you will have very nice neat seams. Suzie I am so jealous! Which one did you get? I saw they were on sale at Hancock's. I want to go get one but my husband gets upset when I do that this time of year. Cause it leaves him looking harder for Christmas stuff.
I got the Juno by Janome and have finished one set of scrubs and working on cutting out another set. Wooohoo you can do pants in just a few minutes. That is after I had to recut the pants out because I serged both the front to one of the backs. Well I am human and I was glad that I learned the hard way. The next pants went so much better and looked like scrub pants.
Ok I have to ask what is it that makes it better than a conventional sewing machine? I know it does the narrow hems and cuts the excess as you sew but is there really a big difference? I really want one but I'm just learning to sew and I'm wondering if that is more advanced than I need to go at this time.
Speed! And the seams being finished, I'm not one for a french seam and the rolled hems are lovely. My machine also has a coverstitch function - which I love because I stink at actually getting a hem done, rather than sitting and waiting for a hem for a couple of weeks.
