I want to try this.

http://www.wikihow.com/Cut-Jeans-to-Make-a-Wider-Leg

I also want to make a skirt using the top of a pair of jeans, cut just below the pockets and adding a full frilly skirt under. I havent worked it out just yet. I wish I could find a better pic, but this is the closest. I want the frill top start up higher and of course be longer. The straight cut jean skirts just dont do much for me.

Robin, I used to do that to my pants way back when LOL. It's ton of fun. Take a pic of the pair you do it to so we can see.

i was the hippie chic in highschool and made several pairs of these. if you use a lighter cotton for the insert, you will need to starch them for the bells to hang nice.

Ooooohhhh my gosh! What a blast to the past! My mom was always on me about my bell bottom jeans like those! I made so many of them. That my mom didn't mind but what she did mind was that mine were hip-hugger jeans and I ran around in them with tube tops. (sigh, wish I still have my body from.. back then) LOL!!

Would love to see some pictures! (no not of my bod!) :oP

We made these in the 70's and 80's. Mostly we used just one fabric and they were long and gathered a lot but here is the idea. You can alter to your liking.
