Aside from his cataracts he's also got scar tissue from a torn retina some years back-so we get to see another specialist today to see what needs to be done with the retina before they replace his lenses. Hoping to meet the scheduled date of Nov 3 for his right eye being fixed. Good thoughts & prayers always appreciated!

Hi Sherrie, My mom did no have the issue with the retina but she had cateracts and getting them fixed was the best thing we could have done. My mom loves crossword puzzles but had quit doing them because she could not see well. For several years. The doctor said her cateracts were not ready yet. When we did the surgery which took no time at all to do, I took her home the first day. It was funny...my uncle had died and the visitation was that night (not the funny part), when I was driving her over there she said "there are four feet in the floorboard and they all have my shoes on them." We laughed about it. We had to take her back the next day and told the nurse about that and she said we get similar stories from the men only it is usually that there are two pottys which one do I aim for?
Anyway, I drove my mom from the doctors office to my uncles funeral. It was a very long drive and she read EVERY sign along the way. EVERY fast food place, every gas station, every thing. It kind of broke my heart because I did not realize how much she could not see before. I should have smacked the doctor who said it was not ready yet. They should not have to lose so much before it is corrected.

I wish your dad well. (The double vision seems to be gone by the second day)

Likewise-I knew his vision wasn't what I would call good-but until I sat with him thru the eye exam I was really shocked at how bad his vision is. I've been learning to drive so I can take him (and I'm still nervous behind the wheel-hoping I get to the "gee this is fun phase" soon! I think he'll be getting much more active in working on the house once both eyes are done-wanting it all done before Thanksgiving.
