I have been away from Martin for over two and a half years now. Last week, my parents asked why I wasn't dating at all. It's not that I haven't wanted to, but meeting people I would be interested in has been difficult. So, to make a long story short, I put an add on an online dating site. I know that I kept saying that was something I would never do, but it seems to be the only solution these days.

Wish me luck. Yes, I am being very cautious.

You have more guts than I do. I know a woman who met a guy through an on-line dating service and they ended up getting married. I don't think I'll ever try it, but it should be interesting for you. Just be sure to watch out for the weirdos. (But you already know that). Good luck!

Corrine,
I once had said that I would never do something like that. Well, I have eaten them words!
I met my husband online through a chat. We lived 45 minutes apart. We got to know one another on chat and telephones for many months. We met in a public restaurant, being cautious and safe. We married! That was 8 years ago.
Just keep your eyes open and be smart and it'll be fine.
Good luck!

:o)

I met my husband on farmersonly.com. I don't think online dating has to be this scary thing. Look at all the friends we have made on sites like this. In the same way, we can make friends that possibly lead to something more on dating sites. Good luck!

I met my boyfriend on an online dating site. It was something I was never going to do, but again, meeting people is very hard. I don't go to bars and all my friends are married. There are only so many 'blind-dates' a person can handle.

Just be safe. Look at it as 'just having fun and meeting new people'. It has it's ups & downs, but so does dating in the real world.

My problem is, I had a hard time finding a man that appreciates the domestic side of me. I am very open in my farmgirl lifestyle, I love to cook, clean, sew and work on my house. That scares most men, and I don't understand why.

Good Luck

Dear Corrine, Almost exactly over 5 years ago (Sept. 24th), on a whim, I put an ad up on yahoo personals. I came so close to not doing it. The very next day, I met my husband-to-be, and within a couple of days, we met in person and I knew that was the one I was supposed to be with when he took my hand to cross the street... I knew I'd marry him. We married a year later (was going to be Sept. 24th, but the hurricane rita pused it back to Nov. 11th), and it has been 5 (4 years married) wonderful years so far!

YOU NEVER KNOW! I almost pushed cancel on that ad, came so close, but I let it go and it really worked! :D

i love all the support i get from you girls, thanks! so far, there are actualy a few things i really like about the whole senario. first off, it cuts through all awkward questions about religion, expectations, rather he would date a woman with kids... one gets to look with out feeling obligated to say anything and just knowing that your profile has been viewed is hopeful. second, automated replys make it easy to turn down the ones that just wont work like the 46 year old jamacian who invited me to indulge in 420 (ummmmmmm....no).

I'm happy for you, Corinne! Several of my friends have ended up VERY happily hooked from a man they've met online. One friend married a man from England (she was lucky enough to live with him on his farm in Devon for several years, now they're back here for a time) and my mother's friend is currently moving to a farm outside of Bardstown, Kentucky with a sculptor she met on line. It took her a while, but she's VERY happy!

I can't wait to see who you meet!
