Does anyone know of a good recipe for powder coffee creamer? Surely you can make it and save money! But all the recipes I've found on the web all start with store-bought coffee creamer. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of making your own?!

I have never tried making the powdered kind. I know what your saying about defeating the purpose though :) I have made the liquid form, it is totally not healthy for you as it has sweetened condensed milk in it :) If you would like Tammy, I will post the recipe :)

Yes, post it! Sometimes I like liquid, but I'm so tight I won't buy it because I use it up so fast!

I have a list of recipes to make your own of just about everything you can buy off a shelf. This is what is listed for what you asked for.
Homemade Powdered Coffee Creamer
After running out of my store purchased coffee creamer, I looked for alternatives and I combined several ideas to make a great powder coffee creamer. By adding other items like cocoa, other sugars, or spices you can develop additional flavors.
Ingredients
1/2 cup uncooked white rice
1/2 cup powdered milk
1/4 cup sugar
Directions
Put the rice in a blender for 5 minutes on highest setting to form a powder. Add the milk and sugar and again blend for only a few minutes.
I had some concerns using sugar as I do not like sugar in my coffee but I was surprised to find that I could not taste the sugar. I was looking for something as close to "CoffeeMate" as I can get. It also appears to somewhat reduce the acid content of the coffee.

(These are not my words, I just typed everything in the recipe.)

Here it is Tammy :)

Maple Cream Coffee Creamer

1 (14 ounce) can of sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon maple extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Combine all ingredients in a blender; mix until well blended. Pour into a quart-size container; store in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. makes about 4 cups.

The original recipe called for just vanilla extract but I wanted to try Maple. I love Maple in the Fall. Really you could experiment wit anything. Try almond extract, maybe add some cinnamon, etc.

Hope you like it :)

Wow! Thanks for the tips girls. I never knew you could use rice Melody. I'll have to try that one. I know,I hate extremely sweet cocoa's and chai's so I make my own. Much healthier and cheaper too.
