Hi, ladies. It has been a really long time since I have been able to remember my password...but tonight it's like magic! I have been able to read, but not jump in. I still live on our acreage in Iowa. Still work full-time in town. Just started back to school pt. Still love the needle arts and books. Was just thinking today..can't wait for farmer's markets to open up in this area. We are supposed to have 6 to 8" snow tonight. So that won't happen soon. Do any of you make ATCs? Sigh...I am so glad to be back..

Thank you for the "Welcome back"! We are in North Central Iowa (by Mason City/Clear Lake area..just a few miles south of the MN border..not far from Joyce, IA where another lady from this site lives. An ATC is an "artist trading card"..not unlike what you all are doing with your mail art. (By the way, I saw some of your mail are on MJ's page. Anyway, the ATC is always the size of a playing card. They can be done as one of a kind, a series, a theme, etc. ..no limits to the imagination. Always traded, never sold. I think I heard of them about a year ago. Just "google" artist trading card or ATC, and you will find explanations and samples. I seem to have lots of ideas and supplies for them, but haven't made one yet.

Hi Grammazena!

Can't wait to hear about your farm happenings! I have this pile of little scrap papers with my usernames and passwords for sites. I still have to re-register sometimes, because I can't find the little slip of paper with the right information.

What are you studying in school?

Blessings
Catherine

Hi grammazena!
I ordered some "ATC Collection" victorian picture cards from my craft club a few weeks ago, they should be arriving any day now - I will use them for cards/gifts. I love the farmer's markets here too, they were only closed for about 6-7 weeks here, we had hardly any snow, but FREEZING cold weather! Keep warm!

Thanks for the info on ATC's, grammaz - that sounds like a fun creative thing to do.
My family owns a farm near Joice, Iowa. My last living aunt lived there until her death last month. The family still owns it and will probably rent it. I love, love that area of the world. Wish I could buy that farm, as I have said many times here on this site. Lots of family history there, as my great-grandparents were charter members of a little Lutheran church and are buried in the cemetery there...Beaver Creek it is called.

I have always wanted a degree ..just because..so, I am going back to school a little at a time. Several years ago, the factory where I worked shut down, so I was able to go back to school and became a licensed practical nurse. Most of the people I work with have a four year degree in social work or psychology. I am older than dirt, so I want to get my degree..in whatever I want. First, I am just finishing up a class that helps one individualize a college program. Then I may be able to test out of a few classes because of things I have already learned throughout past jobs or life experiences (experiential learning.) Next I plan to take 3 literature courses:American Indian Literature, African American Literature, and Literature: Women of Color. (I think those sound like great fun!) Then, a theatre class, and the basics in math, communications, etc. I still don't know what to be when I grow up.:) Debs, the Victorian picture cards sound just lovely. I have everything to make my first ATC..if I will just start. One side will be white birchbark. The other side will have a tiny "forestee" green print. Between the birchbark and fabrid I will place a picture of a bear (my totem)and I would like to put our family name on the print in pine needles held in place with couching stitches. That will be coveredby a pretty, green, organdy ribbon. Then I plan to stitch around the entire card with porcupine needles. This is probably one I will not give away. My mother passed away a couple of years ago. I have lots of her memorial cards with a tiny little picture of her on them. I hope to make little ATCs with those for my siblings and the grandkids, and great grandkids. Cajungal, I can sure relate to that pile of passwords! I can't remember which sites mine go to. Isn't it funny..the one for this site is my very first one, and this was the very first site I went into. And, jpbluesky, I'll bet you are the person I was remembering with people from Joyce. We don't have a farm..we live in the woods. Lots of wildlife, birds. I've been in the mood lately to look at wind chimes. I like to hang them on the branches in the woods, so as we walk the trails there are little surprises here and there. The grandkids like that too.
