Help! I have a fever blister. I've been putting alcohol on it. That burns. Any suggestions on how to dry this up? Thanks.

I have never had one but friends of mine have and use L-Lysine (internally) and Rosebud Salve.

We used Carmex and it seems to work wonders. It burns a little but nothing alcohol would. :) After a few days of use it clears right up. You can find it in the chapstick section of dept. stores :D

You shouldn't try to dry it up or use alcohol or peroxide. I use Abreva just as soon as I feel that little tingle coming on. I apply it several times a day and before I go to bed. It takes the sting out and relieves the pain. Takes about a week to get rid of whatever you do, but why suffer while its healing.

I use aloe vera gel on mine as soon as I feel it coming on. Plus I take extra B complex vitamins and Zinc. Sometimes they don't even break out entirely and if they do they only last about 4 days.

It's not about being perfect, but enjoying what you do. Set aside time to be creative.

Hi Marly,

I have always had lots of problems with fever blisters and a few years ago I stumbled upon this remedy. I bought some topical vitamin c powder from Philosophy. I am not sure if that's spelled right. It's a skin and cosmetic company. It was designed to slow down the aging process, kind of like using anti-oxidants on the face or skin. I noticed as long as I used it I never got fever blisters. Then my sister in law found some topical v-c that was in an oil type form with a dropper and she didn't get them either after using it. It has become fairly popular and can be found from lots of places on line and probably in stores. I don't use it all the time now, but if I feel one coming on I put some drops on the area and it basically stops it from spreading or expanding and soon goes away.

Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Thanks, Sharlet. I never heard of topical v-c, but it sounds like a winner to me. I'll get some.
I haven't had a fever blister in a super long time. All of a sudden, there it is. Now I have an ear ache.
