Suzie your tote went to the post office this morning. Keep an eye out for it. Nadine yours will be going out Monday. Didn't get it completely finished before the post office closed and have to work tomorrow. Won't get off in time to get to the post office.
Begin each morning with a song in your heart. |

Lessie Louise/Carol, Thank you for the card and pressed flower !! Now I was the one surprised : ))
My DH is really getting jealous of us farmgirls, he says the farm guys just have coffee every morning, they don't get neat stuff in the mail and he loves mail too !! Maybe I should send him some!

Carol/Lessie Louise! I got my tote today and all I can say is, "WOW!" I absolutely love it. It is perfect for my knitting and I can't wait to transfer my projects over. All the pockets are perfect. And all the little surprises hiding in them were so much fun. THANK YOU!
I can't wait to participate in another swap like this. It was so much fun... not that I'm done with it yet. I still have to get my tote out of here to the recipient.

Victoria I got my tote yesterday in the morning and I have already loaded it up with my knitting to carry to my knitting group today. I absolutely love love love love it. I am a gardener and do believe that things grow with love, just as our friendship grew from a tote swap. P.S. what pattern brand and number did you use. I love the shape and the size. Suszie P.S.S. I love the chap stick also..... |

Suzie I am glad you like it. It is actually very easy to make. There are 2 patterns that use the same style McCall's M5898 and Butterick B5338. I actually like the McCall's pattern best because the other bags in the pattern are also pretty cool but it uses wide webbing for the straps. The webbing is kind of expensive. The Butterick pattern has the pattern piece for the straps. But really it is just a long strip. The Butterick pattern also has a piece that I did not put on yours but it is loops that fit the bag stands at the checkout. Also, I added an extra pocket on the inside. That is not in either pattern. Enjoy it and stay in touch. I have to brag and post a pic of your bag but I also wanted to show you an apron I just did using the same fabric. I love that fabric.

These are great, Victoria! Very cute. What is that apron pattern number??? I love it and received one in the cowgirl swap, but don't know what the pattern is.

I put the tote pattern # in the post with the pics but the apron pattern is Butterick B4945. I combined 2 of the styles in the pattern pack for this apron. The body was style D but the pockets and neckline was style C. The pattern was a little confusing the first time I used it but I have not been sewing that long so I really have to read the patterns carefully and then go look up what they are talking about in my sewing book. LOL. The one in the picture is the second apron I made using the pattern and I felt comfortable enough with it to change it up a bit. Thank you for the positive comments. That is so encouraging. My mother has sewn all my life and I never understood her fasination for it until I started this past Fall. I LOVE SEWING!!!

Thanks, Victoria. I am fortunate. My mom taught me to sew/embroidery when I was about 5. My Dad went around with badly embroidered handkerchiefs until I got better at it, then he carried prettier ones LOL!
I can't imagine life without a needle in my hand or close by.

I promise you Jonnie my mom tried but I was so determined not to be 'girly' growing up that you wouldn't have caught me dead with a needle in my hand. Now a toad frog or BB gun that was a different story. LOL. That's where my total and complete dislike for pink comes from. My mom tried to 'girl' me up and decorated my entire room in pink. Even the carpet was pink. I hated that room. Tried painting it with my dad's barn paint and she repainted it pink. Stayed that way until I went off to college. So not learning to sew until now was all my doing. My other sisters have been sewing since they were little. I was definately a daddy's girl.
