So while out at my favorite antique store....I found this cute little baby spoon and the first thought that came to mind was, wouldn't this make a cute necklace? so I think I will look for a good baby picture of my daughter, shrink & photo copy it and glue it onto the spoon and then put some itty bitty pearls or rhinestones around the edge of the picture on the spoon and then run a velvet ribbon through the handle ...what do you think?
As soon as I complete it I will post a pic.

Anyone else done something like this?

Sounds like a great idea! I have the baby spoons from both my little ones. It'd be an adorable keepsake!

What a great idea. I love old spoons. I can't wait to see what it looks like when you are finished with it.

That's actually not a bad idea, I could find a "Silver Bow" that I could attach the spoon to.
My only concern is the weight, that is why I think for me a necklace might work out better.

I just love all this creativity,,,,if it(creativity) were a blanket, I'd snuggle in it! lol!

I've been going to do this too after seeing something similar on a craft show awhile back. The show I saw went a step further and permanently mounted objects embedded in plastic resin in the bowl of the spoon. I've got all the stuff. Just have to try it. Baby spoons or sugar spoons would be so cute.

Ohhh, what a good idea Cheryl, in fact I am thinking rather than regular resin, I might take the mini picture and dip it in melted embossing powder to give it that 'resined' look. I have one of those little pots where you pour the embossing powder, let it melt & then dip your object to be resined. It can be dipped several times depending on the effect your want.
As soon as the last of my company leaves ( I have out of state house guests until Sept 26th) I will play with this idea & see how it turns out.

i made little picture frames like that out of some little silver trays that originaly held salt and pepper shakers. i made three. first i decopaged and sealed the pics in clear coat, then edged the photos with lace, and hung the collection on a wide grosgrain ribbon. unfortunately, it is one of the little treasures i have lost over the past few years.

Grace: the little pearls around the picture would be sooooooooooooooo cute. Great Idea. You could also put something like that in a frame along with baby shoes, bonnet, or whatever as a keepsake for mom or grandma.
