I am bumping this to keep it in the forefront of everyones mind. I didn't get the hats, scarves and mittens on a tree yet, but they look awfully cozy in my Longaberger Laundy basket! AND, I haven't taken a pic yet. things have been soooo busy here at Harvest Thyme Farm! I can't believe how fast time goes! I'm thinking of getting all this together by the first week of December. Sound good to all of you??

ATTENTION ALL MITTEN TREE PARTICIPANTS!
So the place I wanted to donate them to can't take them right now. They say they are overloaded with this kind of donations. On one hand, that's fantastic, on the other hand, I have a table load of winter accessories. So I wanted to ask all of you if you thought it'd be okay to donate some to our local LOOK GOOD FEEL BETTER program at Medina General Hospital in Medina, OH. So that maybe some gals going thru Breast Cancer wont have to leave treatment with a cold head. And donate the rest of it to RAINBOW CHILDRENS AND BABIES HOSPITAL IN Akron, OH.
Please let me know your thoughts as I'm hoping to get this out by Decemember 12th! thank you!

A suggestion for keeping those cozy donations local is the Plymouth/Shiloh Foodbank in Shiloh...they have a free clothing bank there along with the food, and they serve many, many needy folks from our communities. Rose Jaeckin from Willard is the contact person, feel free to email me if you need her number, I've worked with her before. There is such a huge need here, and what an awesome way to give back, helping keep these families warm!

They all sound like needy organizations; send them to whomever seems to need them the most! (and, of course, what is most convenient for you Dawn).
I was at a benefit last night and won some baskets that contained hats and mittens (some homemade and some not). I will be sending them on to you Dawn! |

Dawn, I trust your judgement, you send them where you feel like will be most needed. Again thank you for doing this. Blessings,Karen

Oh Dawn, I read your post a couple days ago & now that I've had time to think about it and If its OK with you I will just donate the ones I have locally. Dosen't make sense for me to mail them to you so that you have more to deal with, under the circumstances. : )) ** You have a heart of gold and the mitten tree is still a very good idea!! We actually should do one every year !

I donated the mittens to Ashlands Associated Charities. It also houses the food bank and takes in clothing donations. While I was in there, there was a young momma and a little girl with a snotty nose and in need of a comb.. when I was talking to the volunteer stating that these were "just some items from farmgirls who care", that little girls eyes lit up at the sight of those light purple mittens with the dark purple trim. I took them out and found the matching hat and gave them to that little girl right there. I told her she lookedlike a 'winter princess' in them. I wish ya'll could've seen that face. It was magic. That's all I needed this Christmas is that moment right there. Thank you to all that helped make it special!

Dawn -
thanks for doing and sharing this! It's just makes you realize that the little things we take for granted can seem like a million dollars to others!
