MAY 19th: I think this mom and Alyssa both would be encouraged by Farmgirls who would be willing to send a card.
If you would be willing to be an encourager please send me an email and I'll give you their address and other info.
I'm thinking that, if you would, SEPARATE cards/notes would be really good. But something that could go in one envelope.

Hey Farmgirls . .
Could you be praying TODAY for Alyssa. She is a 6th grader with CP and is undergoing MAJOR orthopedic surgery today in Denver.
Her family is our neighbors and her mom and I have become good friends (the bond of being mothers of handicapped children). She needs to have major realignment of her legs and feet if she is going to be able to continue walking.
Scary for moms!!!

Dear Farmgirls!
I apologize for the error in the date for Alyssa's surgery. It hasn't happened yet! It is scheduled for this coming MONDAY, AUGUST 24th . . . going into surgery at noon. They are traveling from home to Denver tomorrow and it will be an all-day trip.
Mom and dad will be staying in the hospital room with Alyssa(Denver Childrens Hospital) . . . and hopefully that will be comfy enough; eating in the cafeteria . . . and hoping she does well enough they don't have to stay long.
So, please continue your prayers for Alyssa and her family. Again, I apologize . . . but the surgery date is this coming Monday, 8/24.
I told mom that I would call them later in the week and see how everyone is doing.
THANKS FOR YOUR PRAYERS . . . and YOUR PATIENCE!!!

Prayers for Alyssa and her family being offered up now. May her doctors have steady hands guided by our Father that she may walk straight, strong and true. May her recovery be speedy and trouble free and her family's fears erased by the love of our Creator that He will keep His child safe and well. This we ask in His name. Amen.

My child has had many things done at Childrens. Its a really good hospital, while I hate their billing department. My little one has autism and a joint hypermobility.
I am send prayers for the surgery and her recovery. |

I told Alyssa's mom that there were a lot of farmgirls praying . . . she is SO-O-O-O-O grateful and thanks you all!!!
I'll let you know later in the week what I hear about how she is doing.
ROBIN . . . thanks for your encouragement. I have a 35 year-old son with Down Syndrome . . . has not had to have major surgery, but there are challenges!!

Hey Farmgirls,
THANKS for your prayers for Alyssa and her family. Talked to mom this morning and she said Alyssa came through surgery really well. Her legs are all nice and straight, but she is having muscle spasms requiring epidural medication right now, but they will be attempting to take her off that today. Hopefully she can be discharged by the weekend.
Sleeping accommodations for mom and dad are VERY uncomfortable, especially for dad who has back issues.
So, please continue to pray for Alyssa, cessation of spasms, discharge home and healing. And for mom and dad as they "hang in there". Alyssa's recovery will be long and hard as well . . .

Alyssa and parents are home from Denver!!! I believe things are going pretty well. I have not had opportunity to talk with her mom but will update after I do.
But she is home! Will have to return in 3 weeks for follow-up check to see how those leg bones are doing.

Hey Farmgirl Prayer Warriors!!
Talked with Alyssa's dad today. She is doing good but having considerable pain (we're talking MAJOR realignment of her legs, work on knees and heels) He was on watch so mom could get out on a walk with their oldest daughter.
So, please continue to pray!!!

Talked with Alyssa's mom yesterday. .
. . .please continue to pray for pain mgmt. and for healing. They are trying to transition to regular Tylenol and get off the narcotic pain meds.
. . .need to remove some bandages but Alyssa has anxiety issues with that . . . pray for that to go smoothly.
. . .rest for mom . . . they still have a long road of rehab and therapy ahead.

Poor Alyssa,
I am continuing to keep her in prayer CJ as well as her Mom. I do pray that the Lord would relieve her pain and discomfort and to give her peace. Praying for rest and good quality sleep for both her and her Mom.
