I absolutely love flavored coffee, especially French vanilla! I woke-up with a hankering for some the other morning, but was all out! What to do? what to do?

I brewed up my little pot and stirred in some vanilla extract! It was yummy! So then I started experimenting. The next morning I stirred in almond extract. The next, anise extract. And now, anise is my new favorite! It has kind of a licorice taste to it.

Just thought I'd pass along this little discovery.

Cherry,
So clever. I have been meaning to stop by for coffee.. but NOW, I just gotta :). While I gave up coffee I stil have Teecino and I think that would work the same. I did break down and have some iced decaf coffee the other day~ YUM My girlfriend here is a brew master... and I do mean MASTER. So, I indulge in the decaf every now and again so I will try this..... One of the farmgirls on here ( Lynn "weedyways") sells Watkins and they have some awesome "organic" flavors too.

Cherry,

Oooh, I bet the anise is good!

Here is a website that sells natural flavor extracts that you can use with coffee or tea. I also use it when I make Hot Cocoa Mix :) I like to make Roasted Chestnut flavor around the holidays :)

http://www.naturesflavors.com/

Also, I found this a few years ago on the web:

How to Make Your Own Gourmet Coffee:
Assuming you will present this in a quart sized Mason jar, (you can do this using a smaller mason version) basically dump a quart of whole coffee beans (decaf or regular) into a big zip lock bag, and sprinkle with the flavor oils of your choice. Shake the bag until all beans have some coating. If you want to get fancy, you can add a coat of powdered vanilla, sugar, cinnamon, or coca by using a heaping tablespoon of the powder after they are coated with oil, and then shaking the bag again to evenly coat. Shake the bag vigorously to coat all of the beans. When you are done simply pour your creation into a mason jar and tie natural raffia around the neck along with a gift card or what have you. You may also want to secure a rock candy stirrer stick around the neck or a chocolate dipped spoon. Most people know what to do with coffee--which is LOVE IT! You can also layer the beans in the Mason jar, alternating say, White Christmas with German Chocolate Cake. 1/4 ounce flavors at least four pounds of beans and you can mix and match.

Themes for Your Gourmet Coffee: Flavor Oils...

*Amaretto: Almond and Vanilla. Suggested coating totally crushed almonds.
*Bananas Foster: Banana, Caramel and Rum.
*Cherry Cordial: Chocolate and Cherry. Suggested coating powdered cocoa.
*Chocolate Mint: Chocolate and Peppermint. Suggested coating powdered cocoa.
*Cinnamon Butter Cookie: Cinnamon and Vanilla. Suggested coating powdered sugar.
*Eggnog: Vanilla and Rum. Suggested coating powdered sugar and nutmeg.
*German Chocolate Cake: Chocolate, Coconut and Macadamia Nut. Suggested coating powdered cocoa.
*Raspberry Truffle: Chocolate and Raspberry. Suggested coating powdered cocoa.
*White Chocolate Macadamia Nut: White Chocolate Macadamia Nut. Suggested coating powdered sugar.
*White Christmas: Coconut, Carmel and Vanilla. Suggested coating powered sugar or vanilla powder.
***********************************************************************

Vanilla Powder: Sift powdered sugar. Take a vanilla bean and slit the side of the bean. Place in a jar along with the powdered sugar and seal jar. Shake jar occasionally. Store for at least 2-3 weeks to get the best vanilla flavor and scent.

When I was in the USA 2 yrs ago, my friends I stayed with used flavored coffee cream! Loved it!! They had the vanilla one and I think also caramel. I wanted to take a bottle with me, but my suitcases were already TOO heavy lol. It is not here so would have been nice :) Maybe next time I will take a bottle with me. Might be another 2 yrs though!!

Sharon, YUM!! Thank you! I'll definitely be trying some of those combos and even giving as gifts to my coffee-lovin' friends!

Rene', Watkins is the only way to go! I'll be looking up Lynn to check-out what different flavors she has.

Marian, I would love to send you some flavored creamers! What are the rules about mailing foodstuffs to your neck of the woods?

And Melanie, I love cinnamon in my coffee, too! I have a container with mixed cinnamon and sugar for toast and sometimes stir in a spoonful in my coffee!

Cherry, isn't that great? I usually pour the vanilla and cinnamon right in on top of the coffee grounds before I brew a pot but you can do it anyway you like and so many flavors out there to use. I also make Cappuccino from scratch with a recipe I found on http://www.tipnut.com It's cheap and yummy.
