It's a nice enough little book. Nice pictures to show you what the plant looks like and explains which part of the plant is edible. But I have no use for a plant that grows in Southeast Asia or the West Indies....
The book gives Description, Habitat & Distribution and Edible Parts. I think that if MaryJane gave this type of book some Farm Girl flair it could be a really great book. Some recipes - not just survival type info.
It has medicinal plants listed entirely separate and has no index. I find this book very hard to use. Oh, it needs a Farm Girl hand to it badly.
LOL! I love your line "Oh, it needs a Farm Girl hand to it badly."!
That would be some really interesting information to have. I have seen a book similar to this at the store at Russell Cave National Monument. I wonder if they sell those types of books at all of the National Parks and Monuments?
I've been collecting photos of our wildflowers here in Alabama, but I know I will be itching to find some edible plants when it is finally cool enough to attempt camping here again.
I hope others have some information on this topic that they can share!
Yes! That is a great idea o include foraging in one of her books. I would love that, and it would be useful info to know. Not just for "survival" but to live on what we have growing around us. Natural food :)
