I've been considering purchasing a Le Creuset 5 quart dutch oven and a 10" skillet.
Since they are rather pricey, I would like to be sure before I buy them. Do you have Le Creuset cookware? What do you think of it? Do you think it's worth the price? How is it to cook with compared to other materials? I have stainless steel cookware and have never really cooked with enameled cast iron cookware or cast iron of any kind.
Thanks for your help, Joyce |

I have many Le Creuset pieces of cookware. They are wonderful, but getting pretty heavy for me. And when they are full of food, they really weigh a lot! They do distribute the heat well and are really greatl to cppk with. I guess I could convince myself that using them is my weight lifting program...

My husband came with a set of Le Creuset. I didn't like them then. I love them now! They are heavy so handle them just like you would when you are cooking before you decide.
For example, mine are sauce pans. They have the spout to pour. You have to pour with your right hand and I usually pour with my left. It took a while to get the hang of it but I did. When I was pregnant with Liam I had problems with my joints in my hands and couldn't use them. But now my hands are fine and I use them all the time.
Of course, I also love my cast iron. So I guess I'm getting some weight lifting in:)

I have Le Crueset and love it. Yes they are heavy but so is cast iron. They distribute the heat so much better than stainless. I have had mine for 30 years and only the frying pan has it porceleon has cracked and I read where they have changed the lining of only the frying pans. It is caused by too high of heat. Rachel Ray has similar cookwear but it is not Le C. I found a large sauce pan with lid at the thrift and it looked seldom used. I paid 14 dollars for it considering it would be 109 dollars brand new. It is way too pricey for me now and I am thankful I got the orginal set at a very sale price. The dutch oven and the skillet are the items I use the most. MB

I do...I have a covered pot that looks like a pumpkin, and another dutch oven type thing. LOVE it. Love it. I highly recommend it, and it's worth the cost.

I have a RachelRay enameled cast iron pot and a le cruset. I think they are both wonderful and the racehl ray version was a LOT cheaper!

I have 2 pieces, the Risotto pot (6.75 qt round) & a oval dutch oven (3.5 qt). I love them. I make my risotto in the big one & all my casseroles in the smaller one. |

I have the 5qt Le Cruset dutch oven and a bread pan. I love the dutch oven and use it a lot. I don't really care for the bread pan; it's really thick, and I think it takes too long to heat up.

I see them at a discounted price at places like Ross and Marshall's...I don't know if you have any of those stores in your area but it could save you some $.

Thanks, Hana
I wish these stores were in my area. I have shopped at them when I'm visiting the U.S., but my home is in Canada. I'm still looking for a good deal here!

They have Le Creuset at TJ Maxx all the time - some pieces on the clearance aisle! Good luck |

I love mine and have had most of the pieces for over 25 years. Yes, they are heavy but soups don't burn on the bottom, they are the only pan I would even think of cooking jams and jellies in and they stay at a simmer on low heat so you're saving energy, too. Michele
