Kelli,I think you and I and Yart are the only ones who are in this area. I posted a long time ago looking for other Farmgirls and that's kind of how this group of Farmgirls from all over the mitten got started.Back then(about 4-5 yrs ago?) there were a couple groups down this way listed but, they never responded and MaryJane's Farm told me after trying themselves to contact that they probably disbanded.I also checked going into Ohio and there are no groups there nearby either last I checked. So I posted on here...there are quite a few of us but,we are a very scattered all over bunch...LOL! You and I and Yart are fairly near each other and as Yart said could try getting together. We'll have to see what we can do : )

Mary Jane has provided a page to search for chapters - http://www.maryjanesfarm.com/Chapters/Search.asp but I don't know how up-to-date it is. There seem to be quite a few in Michigan, but maybe not all are still active.

Is anyone else anxiously awaiting the first day of school? My kids are just itching to go back after about three weeks they are done with break and start counting down the days til they can head back.

My daughter changes her mind daily, if not hourly. Sometimes she can't wait to go back; sometimes she says she wishes summer wasn't ending. I think the thing that she dreads the most is having to wear shoes again!

My dd is putting up all sorts of lunch ideas up on my pinterest board in preparation of going back. We don't buy school lunches more than once or twice a month because of the vile slop our school serves so we like to have ideas to keep from getting burn out. But I'm pretty lucky because my guys will eat pretty much everything.

My son ate peanut butter and jelly every day for school last year. He refused to eat anything different. My daughter will eat a little better. They eat different things at home, but once it's in the lunch box, for some odd reason, everything changes. It will be interesting to see if I can get them to eat better this year.

My daughter is looking forward to school. My son, not so much.

Only one of my monsters wants to go back. The other two would rather summer never end! As far as lunches I got them the cold pack sandwich and snack boxes from Meijer. I'm hoping that those work better then just bagging it.

The kids are excited about the idea of 'snack boxes' they saw, basically Sunday night you make up enough snacks to last for the week so every day the kids just grab what they want in their lunches. Many of the boxes we saw were prepackaged stuff but we can avoid that with just filling the boxes we normally send stuff in. My dd is almost 10 and she eats darn near as much as her daddy so she gets a main something and three snacks at lunch along with one to eat in the classroom. We go through a lot of fruits and veggies in our house.

Sandy, there are a couple of us that aren't too far from Kelle, and let her know. I'm only maybe about 25 minutes north and the other sister is maybe another 20 minutes north of me. We both let her know we'd be willing to get together but, haven't heard anything yet. She may be busy with kids starting school though.
If I remember right you are way up north near Copper Harbor? I know there are a couple Farmgirls in the U.P. not sure where off hand right now though. Welcome to the group!

Whoops! Guess all the time looking throughout the state for a house and narrowing where we want to be down is effecting my memory as to where some places that I'm not real familar with in the first place were. I am so sorry,Sandy. I'm glad thought that there are others who are near you.

Sorry, yes I've been busy and side tracked with some projects for the most part. I think it would be a lot of fun if we had some MI Farmgirl's that wanted to plan a early Spring campout! I'd be all in for that if it wasn't too far. I'm at the most SE point of MI just across the border from Toledo, OH. Or even a gathering where we stay over a hotel and go junking/antiquing would be a lot of fun!

Oh and if anyone is interested in coming to an open house, Camp Dearborn in Milford, MI is having the Fall Vintage Trailer Rally. Talk about some serious vintage trailer eye candy. You can come Saturday September, 29th from 11am - 3pm and check out all the trailers. They are also having a picnic table flea market type sale. Not sure how much "stuff" folks will have but it's being held the same time as the open house. I will be on site #54 (I think (:).

A junking/antiquing gathering we could do over late fall or winter too. I'm up for anything as long as I can get away and driving weather is OK.

I would love to go camping.... but over the summer all of our tents were destroyed in a storm and my camper is no where near done...

A hotel trip might be nice though....

I wish I could go to the fiber festival.... This month is just to jammed with the kids and my brother is getting married at the end of the month. I hope to be able to go next year! Fingers crossed!

Also, Ladies, the American Sewing Expo is coming up the last weekend of Sept in Novi. Lots of fiber-y things there, too.
