That darn dog! She ate it right up to the back of the machine! Do you think there is a way to get this repaired by an electrician or lamp fitter? And if so, how do I go about it? Who do I call?
It's a $250.00 machine and I've hardly used the darn thing. That's what I get for thinking that "open shelving" idea was a good one! With dog dust, poor stackability and now this, it's been nothing but trouble!

I hope the beagle's going to be all right...intestinally and when you get done with her.
Honestly, I'd contact Cuisinart first. I know there aren't too many shops that repair small appliances anymore, but such a reputable (and expensive) company might still have a repair department. |

Amie, I had to laugh at your post...I couldn't very well scold her because it had been done sometime yesterday so when we got home from work she'd long forgotten about it and would just think I was a bully. She's been a bit miffed that our "foster dog" Violet hasn't gone yet, so I'm thinking that has a lot to do with this, and other not-so-wonderful behaviors.

I think I would try an electrician- they would be able to put a new cord on and it shouldn't be that much in price either! Good Luck, I had a dauschund that would chew cords- one time ate the fridge cord right up to the outlet- weird dog- fit right into my family!!

Jonni, You might even check home depot or lowes. I dont know if your DH is handy at all w/this type of thing, but you can buy an end to splice your cord onto. My DH just had to buy one for our vacuum. The cord got a short near the end. So he's going to cut it off & add a new one. He buys the kind that everything is enclosed in the plug part. Match up the colors of wire & snap/screw it shut. Just have to make sure its one that can be used on an appliance. I think it was less than $5. They're pretty helpful up there & can show you the right one.
Will never understand why dogs eat the weirdest things. LOl! |

Thanks, Lori and Kelly! My dh spliced the radio cord (which she also ate) but there was some "room"...this one has maybe a 1/2 inch left. STINKER!!!
Well, like you're family, Lori, Daisy Bad Seed fits right in. I guess that's why I'm laughing instead of trading her to the Indians!

Ha!!! You're probably right, Janice! I can just see it now. "Little Big Horn call wampum. He say, give back devil dog to rightful owner!" And then the hand signal for "it's done"...and voila, Bad Seed back in Elsmere!

Anyone who repairs stoves will change it for you. Heck, my money is on you. I bet you could do it yourself. Nothing is as hard as we think it is. I have a home repair book and always try myself first.

I think your beagle is related to one of my cats, Isis. Isis has chewed through a few keyboard cords, telephone cord, shoe laces, joystick for computer cord, mouse cords, a new vacuum cord and I've caught her trying to chew through plugged in cords. We finally resorted to getting plastic auto tubing to cover all wiring with for lamps, phone, etc. and have gone mostly wireless for the computer. She was a rescue and I have a clue how she became homeless...sigh. Hubby spliced most of the electric things back together she chewed through.
