This picture was not taken good care of. Left in the sun to fade to grays and whites, no color at all. Then to make matters worse someone spilt I think a coke on it, because it was brown and sticky across the banner. I was not sure, but felt it was worth a chance at restoring. Much to my yippee skippy surprise, when I took the back off to pull it apart and clean it up, a treasure fell out. Originally the picture was longer than the frame so the ends were cut off to fit. Whoever did it put those end pieces back in it before sealing up the back. I had a perfect sample to know the exact colors it had been when new. I used wax pencils to restore all the colors. That sticky brown stuff gave me a fit, it would just not cover over. Then the light went on, I love sparkles so out came the vintage glass glitter. Little by little with a tiny paint brush I painted over the banner and added the glitter. It covered it perfectly!! It is now reframed and I just think it is beautiful. I always feel so good to give life back to something no one else wants.

Isn't that the best thing ever!!! Such a pretty picture...and a shame that someone did not appreciate it better. Great job!

I love trash myself, you know what they say, One man's trash is another man's treasure. You certainly do have a treasure. You did a really nice job of re-coloring it too! Great idea on the glittered banner.

Melody June,
That came out so pretty and what good ideas you had to restore it. You need to get up here to my thrift store and restore some of the MANY pictures that come in. Its always so sad to see so many and know that when they leave the thrfit if not bought where they end up.

Nancy my favorites are the vintage with Jesus in them. If you get any you'll have to email me. I just can't stand to see them destroyed.
My problem is I get so attached to them I can't get rid of any. My husband keeps saying "down size Melody!!" I am really trying. LOL

On a hall wall so it can be seen from the living room, dining, going to the bedrooms and bath. I like Him to keep an eye on us.

I am going to post another picture tomorrow that I can't date. It is a beautiful on of Jesus in the sky with angels over an ocean. There are so many objects in the picture I was trying to find out the meaning of everything but my brother in law said I should do a real search on it because he thinks it's very very old. Just when I was ready to start embellishing it with glitter. LOL I will hold off for a bit.

It was meant to be in your hands. What a beautiful picture. I'm glad you found it.

Thanks Lady Farmgirls!!

Today I glaming up a old insulated milk bottle metal container. I am not sure what it will end up as. I have a vision of it being a container for the MaryJane in Califoria powerdered soap she taught us to make on her blog. I've a very cool vintage decal of Rooster and Hens that may be perfect on it. When the wheels are spinning never know with me where they will stop. LOL
