Hello everyone my name is Isabella but you can call me Is and I just joined the forum today. I stumbled upon this message board while running an online search for information on my jams business.

A little about myself...

I am a 33 year old SAHM who has 3 children all boys ages 11, 6, and 8 months (preemie). Aside from being busy with my children I also run two businesses. My businesses are a computer repair company called C & A Computer Services www.cacrs.com and also a jams and bread business called Jams -N- Bread www.jams-n-bread.com. I have been running the computer business for over 6 years and the jams business for about 3 years. I had to take some time off from both businesses due to a complicated preganancy which also resulted in a premature birth with complications. It has since been over a year now and I am ready to bring these businesses back into full swing. I live in Worth, Illinois and have been here a little over one year. I enjoy working from home allthough it has its ups and downs and is extremely challenging.

I look forward to sharing ideas and talking with everyone on these boards.

Thank you all for your warm welcomes.

Is.

Is, I don't know where Worth is, but I'll go check after while. I'm one of your next door neighbors, over here in Missouri. I'm down in the SE part of the state, right across the Mississippi River from a small town called McClure, IL and not too far from Cairo.

I'm glad to see another Midwesterner here and I look forward to getting to know you.

Some people search for happiness; others create it.

Welcome, Is,

It all sounds very busy and interesting. Kudos to you for being a stay at home mom! I commend all women who are able to do that. I love the Jams -n- Bread business. I enjoy making bread at home, too, but have not yet tried the jam side of it. We love our spreads, though and I'd much rather buy fresh homemade than from the store anyday.

We have some similarities in that we both have 3 boys. I hope your youngest one is doing okay now. I bet your older boys are a great help with the little one. My boys are all grown and on their own; 26,23,21 and we have a daughter in there who will be 25 in a couple weeks. So just a little bit of an age difference, but they were all your boys' ages at one time. It can be a fast-paced life with a house full of boys, but a wonderful blessing as well.

I look forward to hearing more about your business as it continues to grow and your family happenings, too. It's nice to get to know you. Blessings to you.

In His hands,
Lynda

Pray in faith and you will not live in doubt.

First of all thank you all for your warm welcomes! It's nice to hear from such nice people. I am glad I found this site.

OK I am going to try and answer everyone's questions and posts in one message so forgive me if I miss anything. I will also apologize for the long post as well in advance.

In response to Happymama58:

Hello there nieghbor. Where I live here in Worth, Illinois is approximately a 30 minute drive with no traffic from downtown Chicago. With traffic it can take me about an 1 1/2 - 2 hours.

In response to theherblady:

Nice to hear from someone in the same state. Worth, IL is a very small suburb of right outside of Chicago. Its very small that a lot of people havent heard of it. I am about 10 minutes away from Orland Park, Tinley Park to give you a better idea of where I am located. I just moved here a year ago. I used to live in Bridgeview which is about 30 blocks north of here.

In response to FarrarFarmgirl:

Yes, I am very fortunate to be able to stay home with the kids and have been for the last 4 years. I worked full time when my first son was born 11 years ago but had to go part time and or quit most of my jobs because employers dont care about your family life. I ended up getting a really great computer repair job 6 years ago at a bank. I was there full time for 2 years when my life shinned right in front of my eyes one day on my way to a family members house over in Chicago. I was parking my car and when I exited my vehicle I waited to cross the street when a van came and stopped in front of me. A man jumped out and beat me repeadly and stole my purse. I was disabled for 8 months due to this and lost my job after 12 weeks. After a year I decided I would stay home from now on and run my dreams of having my own businesses.

In response to lonestargal:

I didnt think to start my business either until I couldnt have enough jam on hand in my fridge for visitors. Then someone suggested I sell them and see what would happen. The demand was there and it was pretty successful for being a little hobby I had picked up. My job and life is very technically driven and I needed an escape. I used jams and bread to get that. It was like therapy for me. Nothing technical about it just plain and simple.

In response to CabinCreek-Kentucky/Frannie:

Hello there yes my nickname is pronounced IZ. Isabella was too long for me growing up and it just didnt fit me as I was a tomboy growing up and Isabella was just too girly for me. So, my family started to call me Is and has ever since. I received your email and that is fine as far as not ordering online. I give people the option because not everyone is comfortable ordering online. I wanted to cater to diabetics because I am one myself and I sometimes feel like we have to give up so much good food because of our illness. So with that in mind I decided to make low sugar and also completely sugar free jams and butters. I am still in the testing stages of it all because I am major food freak and taste is really big on my part. Anyone who knows me personally knows that food is my weakness and I am extremely picky with how my food tastes. I will definately let you know when I have perfected my recipes for the low carb/low sugar/sugar free jams.

In response to Aunt Jenny:

I am a very busy person but wouldnt have it any other way. If I am not busy and or stressed out I am not happy. I just cant sit around and watch tv and or do nothing. Its just me. Wow that is something having two groups of children. Most people are counting the days to when their kids will move out and you are having more. That is too cool.

Well thanks again everyone for your warm welcomes and I look forward to talking to you all in the forums. Have a great day everyone!

Is.

Welcome Isabella. You just happen to have my all time favorite name for a woman. I always planned to name my first girl Isabella. Kids never happened for me but I still love that name. I think it has a nice strong, intelligent sound.
I really liked your Jams and Bread site, I even liked the name. I'll be visiting you there again, my sweet hubby is too sweet too and he'll enjoy some of your products.

See ya 'round the forum.

Welcome Isabella - I grew up in Springfield, my hubby's from Rockford, and we are Illinois born and bred. Happy to have you here and you sound like a great lady. Even though we have been in north Florida for a long time, you cannot take the mid-west out of a person!

Glad to have you here!

Hi, Iz! I'm from Illinois too; just get on Ogden and stay on it until you're waaaaay out in the corn. I've been here for 23 years, and I've never heard of Worth. Hubby commutes to Oak Brook; maybe he's heard of it.

Welcome! It's great to have another person from Illinois!

Hi Is! I'm not quite sure where Worth is either but you can't be too far from me! I'm about an hour & 15 minutes south of Chicago, just about the point where everything turns to corn. :) I've been to Tinley Park lots of times, and shopped at Orland too! Do you know where the Kankakee/Bourbonnais area is? I'm near there.
You home business and your boys sound wonderful! I am at home with our 3 boys and loving it! Mine are a bit older, 19,15,and 12. I just "launched" my at home business, it's exciting to do what we love, huh? :) So...Welcome! Look forward to getting to know you!
Blessings,
Rhonda

So many from IL here... I need to get a map & see where everyone is!

...and I will sing at the top of my lungs, and I will dance, even if I'm the only one!

Oakbrook is a northwest suburb and I am in a southwest suburb. I am about 20 minutes or so away from Oakbrook.

Shucks, Is. We're really far apart! I'm not sure how far Chicago is, but I know it's a long way. If you ever venture down to the southern part of your state, give me a call!

Funny that you mention that because I have been wanting to go to other parts of the state to visit. Sometimes I get so sick of the city even though I am not really in the city but still not a farm setting either. I just find them so peaceful and quiet and its nice to have that every now and then. I will definately let you know if I am in your neck of the woods.
