Hi girls!

I recently purchased some Envirosax reusable bags on eBay. I was hoping to like them...but I really don't. I'm 5'2" and find that the bags are just too big for me. They actually touch the ground when I hold them at arms length. Because of their generous size, the bag boy at my grocery store fills them to the brim. Each bag ends up weighing about 40 pounds...just too heavy for me to carry home.

Anyway...what I'm looking for is a pattern to make my own bags, about the same size and shape(no long handles) as a standard plastic grocery bags. Do you think cotton fabric used for quilting would work alright? Do you know of an easy pattern that would be double layered, so it has no seams showing?

Thanks so much for your help,
Joyce

Joyce,
I created an easy pattern for a fabric shopping bag for a class I taught. Only takes one yard of fabric to make and is fat quarter friendly LOL!

opps! I forgot to add that the pattern makes a bag exactly as you are wanting - the same size as a plastic grocery bag, no handles, lined, no raw edges, works best out of quilting cotton and washes up great!

Hey! I'm only a couple of inches taller than you, and I found a pattern that I LOVE. Send me an email if you want me to send you the PDF for it.
