The kids and I are big on smoothies this time of year..for breakfast..or for a treat after gardening work. Today we had one that was very simple..but gosh it was good!... 3 bananas 2 cups frozen raspberries milk to fill blender container to 3/4 full and that is it! Usually I tend to add vanilla or plain yogurt too, but this was great without it. (I was out) Do any of you also enjoy summer smoothies?

Love smoothies - we like
8 oz milk (we use 1%) 1 cup fruit, I prefer frozen, makes a thicker smoothie 2 rounded teaspoons of instant vanilla pudding mix (dry)(I use fat free/sugar free) 2 tablespoons cool whip
I use all kinds of fruit - my grandkids think they are shakes.

I do, Jenny....I usually use plain or vanilla yogurt, some type of juice (orange with pineapple/mangoes/etc..., berry juice with berries), a little ice and fresh fruit, some milk and blend away! One of my favorite ways to "eat" breakfast :)

I love smoothies! I bought a new blender a couple of years ago, because I had garage saled my old one......and ever since I have been enjoying smoothie drinks. Blueberries are good with anything.
I use frozen fruit sometimes, and add a little powdered lecithin because it is good for you and kind of tasty. It goes particularly good with bananas.

Try this!
Slice and freeze a few bananas in an air tight container. Then let thaw slightly then add in with these in a blender blueberries, strawberries, milk to cover the blender blades or soy milk (or in my case, almond milk) blend
Just like ice cream! |

Kefir makes great smoothies as well. I love using frozen fruit, and maple syrup.

We usually use:
frozen banana slices frozen berries 1/4 block soft tofu soy yogurt pear nectar wheat germ sometimes we add ground flax seeds
This makes a protein-rich, thick and delicious breakfast... my husband and I make enough for 2 in the blender.

I like banana, strawberry and spinach smoothies. I'm currently waiting for the second crop of spinach to mature to make any more. DD won't eat spinach any other way. I never thought of adding flax, wheat germ and such - should be thinking more creatively, I guess! I agree, the chocolate, banana, peanut butter one sounds heavenly.
