I'm trying to see if there is anything for "working mom's" in the evenings, and someone suggested Mommy and Me classes, however, I can't seem to find out where these things meet...their website gives you a search capability by zip code, but then just a bunch of names and telephone numbers.

Anyone ever do these? Are they worth it? Did you enjoy the time with your child? Do you feel that the programs are well designed?

Check with your local YMCA, sometimes they offer classes for moms and babies.

I did that with my oldest once or twice when he was a baby, but as a working mom, I was tired at the end of the day and he was too, so I found it more fun for us to go home and snuggle and I read him books.

I wondered the same thing, Dawn, if it would be too much for me--I'm pooped by the end of a long day! My husband is home is the daytime and can do some with her, but he's annoyed that there aren't more "daddy and me" things :)

Check your library for storytime, or puppet shows. I went to a book babies thing offered by the library, there was a dad there. His son was wearing pj's and it was very Mr. Mom, very endearing.

Thanks, Trish. I sure will...it looks like the schedule at the library is a little light this summer, but will probably pick up in the fall.

Hi girls! I know this is an older post, but I just wanted to chiime in. As a mom who moves around a lot, I've found Mommy & Me classes to be the best way to make new friends for little ones not yet in school. I have always done these classes and the best way to find out about them is from other moms! If you know any other moms or see some at the park or in the grocery store, just ask them! There is a gym here that teaches kids basics (for use later-if they want to become competative) but they offer Mommy & Me classes for ages 1 month to 3 years. My DD just started in the Mommy sits outside and watches while I try to follow directions in prep for school class after being in a regualr Mommy & Me class since she was 1 year, (3 1/2 now). I think it's a great time, a great way to meet other moms/kids and a great focused play time. Since it's at another place, you aren't distracted by the phone or laundry or dishes or whatever! Only baby and playtime. I think it's a great idea. They do make Mommy & Me classes on weekends for working parents too. And my DH takes DD to her class whenever he's off work and a class is going. It gives me some alone time and it gives them a chance to play together without worrywart mom always telling them not to run in the house! So tell your DH that there is nothing wrong with a Daddy going to one of those classes!

Thanks for the info, Melissa! I really appreciate it. Our schedule is changing just the slightest bit, so I'm going to look into some Mommy and Me things for the weekends. I will do just what you said, talk to other mom's, etc. I am so happy to spend the time with her, but I feel like she might need some interaction with other children as well. She really only spends time with adults right now, and seems fascinated by kids!
