Okay...now I'm mad. ![](icons/icon_smile_angry.gif)
After tenderly watering and feeding and weeding my basil plants, something is munching away on the leaves...I hate using pesticides====never have so I wouldn't know what to use. I think it must be a bug, but I can't see anything. Birds?? I don't have a clue...Any suggestions out there? ![](icons/icon_smile_question.gif)
I love pesto and had planned on making my own to devour over the cold cold winter ahead, but at this rate I don't know if I am going to be able to harvest anything.

Might be snails. Snails are after my herbs, and in the garden. We pick them daily and put them in a can in the garage. Marly

Not sure what it could be, Melody, other than grasshoppers. My grandmother gave me a recipe that is supposed to repel most all munching critters: 1 tsp dishwashing liquid, preferably Dawn, to 1 tbs baking soda to 1 gal water. Mix well in a spray bottle and spray both the underside and topside of leaves. I hope that can help you!

Put anything scratchy around the base of the plants like bark mulch, sand, that kind of stuff. I bark mulch around anything I can and this year I have no slug and snail problem.
Give thanks to yourself everyday for all the wonderful things you do! |
