OK, I know I said I was going to not buy anymore vintage sewing machines, irons or mixers...but I could not help myself, Honest...!!!!!!!!!!
The Hub's & I were out running errands yesterday and decided to hit a few 2nd hand shops....well I found a vintage late 50's travel iron for $3 and I found a vintage Hamilton Beach mixer, also just $3 but my favorite find was this really cool 1893 Singer Sewing Machine. A hand Rotory machine, & it was only $40....
My daughter said there better be a "Home" for all my collections when I go to "a home"...LOL
!

What would a picture be w/o one of my kitties...

Hey Grace - what second hand shops are these? I go to the ones in Spokane and never find much - you must be lucky. I did find a lusterware creamer and sugar at an "antique consignment shop" in Newport the other day that matched some random pieces that I inherited from my grandma. I'm not usually all that lucky... Love the sewing machine. I have read about the hand crank models but have never seen one. Thanks for the pic.

Hey Sheri,
I have several favorites, "Bobbies" which is the upscale section of Goodwill.(where I found this machine)
I also like the Teen Challenge thrift store.
One of my favorite Antique shops in Spokane is Avenue 58 over on Monroe St.
Once in awhile I get lucky at Value Village.
So come on over & we'll go shopping!

hey T.S.,
Bobbies is right next door to the Gooodwill...I think people assume it's a coffee shop cuz of the way the sign reads.... but it is the upscale/collectable part of the Goodwill & yet I have gotten some great finds.
Let me know when you are out this way & we'll hit it.

Wow, I can see why you could not resist, it is a real dazzler. And of course only looks better with that sweet kitty for background contrast....

Wow~ what a great deal you got ! Glad you were able to give it a home. Have you sewn on it yet ? Is it hard to do the crank ? I'm not sure I'd be coordinated enuf.

Cheri,
I have actually used my Grandmother's foot treadle machine and I can honestly say, Thank Gosh for electricity!
I have tinkered with both of my hand treadles(Western Electric & Singer) and the Singer works much smoother. But it is a bit akward to only have one free hand to manipulate the fabric. I suspect once I get use to it, it's no big deal,,,now to try to use it w/o one of my sweet kitties trying to sit on my lap & watch & paw at the fabric....they are such helps! Not! lol!
