I posted this on my blog and thought to share it with y'all here too
(this was yesterday my first day) WOW…..just wow….never ever knew being a mail carrier was this nice, lol. Now let me get it straight: I know I said that about my previous job too, after the first day lol. But that is different, I never was “into” it, not really. BUT it was a job and that was oke. Thought to earn money and then still look for a new job while working there. But the payment is still not in. They are having legal problems that we all hope will work out good for us.
Anyways, about my new job as a mail carrier in my village. The day started out with a HEAVY rain, it was pouring – yikes. The lady whit is helping me get through the first 2 day, training if you like to call it that, could not come in the morning so we left after 3 o’clock in the afternoon. By then it was dry, PTL!! We went to pick up the mail (it will be delivered to my house from tomorrow, YAY!) and started to load it on my bike. MAN was that ever so heavy!! Two BIG special mail bags on the back of my bike, a small bag on the front AND a big mail bag around my neck DUH!!! And they were H E A V Y !! Let me tell you I never knew HOW heavy a mailbag was, but now I know, lol.
Anyways…..We went about our route, on the bike, get off and put mail in the mailbox, on the bike, get off, on the bike, get off etc etc etc…. As far as I know I only made 1 (ONE) mistake so that was not bad IMO lol. You really have to find your balance on the bike being so heavy And sometimes it started to drizzle a tiny bit but that was gone in a few minutes so all in all we had a dry day YAY!!. And one very big plus: THE BIKE GETS LIGHTER with every mail drop LOL!!
No “nasty biting” dogs on my route either yippee just a barking one One unpleasant thing happened in my own street but I have decided to try and get past that. It was with a neighbor I told about in some time ago. But for the best part people were very friendly and inquiring if I would be their new mail person, and they welcomed me and wished me success
And this was today:
Today was an earlier delivery because I started at 11 o’clock. And from tomorrow I will be on my own YIKES!! I will try to start the delivery around 12 each day. That way I will have a regular routine AND the people will have their mail in time. PLUS I will have the rest of the day off too YAY!! The sun was out, and it was an "easy delivery"today. No extra things to carry so that was good. Tomorrow will be my first day of delivering it all by myself, lol. AND an extra heavy load because we also deliver "junk mail" twice a week YIKES! SO extra strength is needed tomorrow lol
A few benefits on this job
1) I will get a tan in summer without sitting in the blazing sun (if the sun shines ;) )
2) My condition will improve due to the heavy bike AND riding it
3) You meet many nice peeps along the way
4) I will be getting payed ON TIME!!!!
So yes, I am a “happy camper” lol

I'm glad that things are looking up for you. I have been worried about you not being able to make ends met. Still hoping for your back pay.

Good for you Marian! I hope this works out for you too!
I'm starting a new job tomorrow. It will be temporary part-time, but has the potential to become permanent. I hope my first day will be a good one too. This is my first job since I had my youngest son years ago.

WWEEEEELLLLL, it DID rain real bad at the start. So first I did my street and the side street, then I went home, got my PINK raincoat and the bike and did the rest of the route. It stopped raining along the way, so not too bad The sun even peeked around the clouds, so not a bad day at all. In fact I was home quite early, esp since it was my first day alone I also had to carry a lot of "junk mail" today so had to stop at EVERY house along the way. And still made it home in a good time. YIPPEE I am getting used to it already lol. BUT my right hand hurts like H*** because that is the hand I carry all the mail in, plus the junk mail. AND my knees protest and had a bad cramp in my calves when I was resting after the job, lol. But it will all get better once I am used to the routine etc. No worries, I am managing very well Tomorrow I will wear a brace on my right hand, see if it helps
Thanks for asking

Beverly, officially it should take about an hour and a half, maybe longer if I have "junk mail days" too. Then it takes about 2 hours. SO not bad at all. lol. But this being my first week, it will take a little longer than that. But I don't mind at all. The sun is out today, NO junk mail so maybe I will be home early, YAY! Time to spend crafting this PM. Tomorrow is my birthday I am making a few party favors to give tomy friends that come for coffee and cake ;)
OH AND TODAY MY BIG BROTHER TURNS 57 YAY!!!! He is 5 yrs and one day older then me, lol (off topic I know ;) )

Your new job sounds great, hard work, but worth it. Has Elvis shown up yet? My kitties used to disappear for days, sometimes weeks , when we lived where they could be outside. It's not safe here, so they are all prisoners...don't lose hope, he may show up yet.
