I'm so excited! We are having our English Country Dance group over for a barbecue and campout! I have been having a ball preparing for it. I mowed down all the tall grass, and put several tables in the orchard. Even acqired a red checkered table cloth for the food table!!!! I cleaned the two outhouses and taped up some victorian scrap art in there. Then made tin can vases, tied bows on them, filled them with everlasting and fennel and hung them in there. Also wrapped wire around two mason jars dropped in tea lights and made potty chandeliers! Thanks Mary Jane for the outhouse ideas! We have a giant satellite dish for our bonfire, and a downed cypress tree to feed it. I just wish the barn were finished so we could utilize it as well. But if the weather holds we'll have a grand time, playing horseshoes and "Big Hat Croquet" my little invention. Everyone must wear a large hat, the crazier the better, if they wanna play. We are gonna have a ball!

WoW Shari,

your party sounds Glamperilous!
Tonight I am having the monthly Prosser FarmChick meeting at my place. After reading your post, I think I need to step it up some.
I love the ideas of tables in the orchard. . .Bon fires and Croquet. Sounds absolutely lovely. . .especially the outhouses (I can't even believe I said that)!

We asked everyone to bring a tote bag and some tea to do an exchange. Then we are all plannin' to make MJ's Pillow Case Bloomers for Farm Fair. *which my DH thinks is hilarious because our farm's name is NUDE food farm and we all are makin Bloomers here. . .

I can't wait to hear more and see pics, I will take some too and we can share.

Best,
h

I must have missed the "pillowcase bloomers". Where can I find a link to the pattern? We use bloomers when we perform because our skirts fly up when we spin, so I'd love to make some!

The Bloomers are in the Aug/Sept 2008 issue. I was so enthralled in how awesome they all were (you would not believe the embroidered edges some of these ladies had on their pillow cases ~little bo beeps and her lost sheeps)!

So I am sorry I didn't get pictures of that BUT I did get my camera out when Rene was talking about how cool FarmFair is going to be. These photos are of everyone asking if it is too late to register for the dinner on the 5th in Settlers Creek. . .

In this pic you can see our paper bags, we each brought a tote bag and put them in paper sacks to make it a grab bag for each to take. . .

Oh, Shari! Your party sounds so wonderful!!!! I'll admit to a little jealousy. There aren't enough farm girls around here for me to have a party for them! Ooh! You are gonna have such a great time!

It was a lovely party! We played horseshoes and "Big Hat Croquet". The hubbies/boyfriends wandered around exploring the farm, and checking out all the neat farm equipment, we had a nice big bonfire in the evening, and then climbed into our tents and slept to cricket songs!

Oh, and I wanted to say, if you don't have farmgirl members near you, just invite your friends to join and then introduce them to farmgirl connection. That's what I have been doing!

I was thinkin,
If anyone is interested in starting a FarmGirl Chapter, check out the Sisterhood info on the home page. You would be surprised how many FarmGirls are in your area (and don't even know it, yet). We meet every third thursday at different FarmGirl's house/farm and usually eat and play while we earn a badge doing a project from the Sisterhood badge program. It is so much fun and really nice to get away from the family to play (my DH calls it Girlscouts for FarmGirls) We all strut around with Jean Jackets with their badges.
At first you invite your friends, and then they start inviting their friends and before you know it you have a huge chapter/Hen house.

Anyhow I just thought I would put that out there.
Shari you seem perfect to start a chapter. . .

Best,
Heide
