I just finished another batch of wild rose jelly. I love the sound of the lids..ping ping ping. There are 10 jars cooling on my table.
I think it is one of the most happy sounds there is!
And my kitchen smells incredible!

Yes, that sound is wonderful. I also like wiping all my filled jars clean and when they are all in the pantry, lined up, they are so pretty. The different colors are pretty, and what a great feeling of accomplishment knowing the security and good food you have provided for your family.

I'm always so anxious to start canning something, and so glad when it is over for the year! We're cleaning out the freezer and pantry to make room for this season's jars!

I too love that sound! I love looking on my shelves and seeing all the jewelled jars of jam and jelly.

I love that pin also! The other day I stewed tomatoes and ran an errand. My first question to hubby when I cam back was "did you hear the pings?" :) He said yes, and I was sort of bummed I missed it. The small pleasures of life, but after the hard work, that ping is important!

Yes that ping is a good thing to hear after you've been cooking up jam, ssterilizing jars, etc. And of course then lining up all your jars of beautiful preserves. I think I may have enough stra2wberries this year to make one batch of jam. I'm so excited, now I just have to set out the aluminum bird frighteners and hope they work...

You jut can't beat a good seal.

Same goes for when you open said jar and the intake of air lets you know it was sealed up tight!

Sometimes it's a real struggle to get those lids off. Not that that's a bad thing necessairly!

It is the sweet "ping" of successful sealing, and I love it too! I like to count them when I hear the sound it's such a feeling of triumph!

Funny you should mention that. What I do is make up a big batch of tea and sweeten it a bit and pour it into pint jars and put them in the fridge. That way we don't have to get out a glass and pour tea everytime we want some. And the tea is ice cold. I usually use the old jars and lids but I got some new pint jars this year with new seals and rings and didn't think anything about it until I heard pings in the refrigerator. At first, I didn't know what was going on but then realized what it was. That tea will be good six months from now. Lol.

I canned blueberries and rhubarb over the weekend and it made me think of this post! Every time I heard a jar seal I smiled and thought of you girls. And looking at the beautiful bluberries (and even the less attractive rhubarb) sitting on my counter made me feel sooo good. I just loved standing there staring at the glossy jars.
