I started these indoors and transplanted them outside a few weeks ago. They are growing well, but now there are little sprouts shooting up around the original plant. Are they weeds, or do ground cherries send up little babies? :) I planted these in little holes cut through landscape fabric, but if these are new plants, I guess I need to tear up the fabric. Thanks, ladies!
I grew ground cherries last year and mine didn't send up sprouts. Sounds like weeds to me. I hope you like ground cherries, they produce and produce and produce. Last year DH wanted them so I planted 6 to make sure I had enough (in case some died or were disesed). Oh my did I have enough! This year I only planted 2!
I direct seeded mine & tonight transplanted those because they were too close. I also planted garden huckleberries, tomatillo & purple tomatillo. I know they are all relatives. It will be fun to see what we like and how we are going to use them.
