I have a window sill. That's basically all I have right now. We live in a condo and there's really no yard. I have two big roses bushes in big containers outside my window. If I felt safe, I suppose I could try something like the 'moveable garden' in last month's Mary Jane magazine. I have tried growing things in pots on the windowsill but it doesn't do well. Besides, I can't get much from the pots at any rate ..Maybe if it were herbs, yes, but trying to get a salad for myself doesn't work. lol.

I'd do the 'moveable garden' right outside my window but I wouldn't doubt that someone steals it. I had a GORGEOUS mint plant on my doorstep that someone kept stealing from - which I tolerated - til one day it was obliterated and apparently when I wasn't home.. they drowned it in water!

What can I do? I'm pretty sad. I need to do something and organic is sooo expensive to just buy at a store here.

I really wish I could have my space...........

You could invest in a "Grow Light" system. There are small portable green houses that you can buy (for less than $50), along with the growing containers, heat mats and growing lights. If you have the room INSIDE your house, it might be worth investing in. Other than that, I'm not sure what else you could do.

It's so sad that other people are SO SELFISH!!!! Nice of YOU to share though, but SHAME ON THEM for being so rotten. Just remember this though Brooke-- CARMA does exist!!!! (He..he..he..he..he) Good luck Hon! ~~~ Tracy

I wish you lived here in NC! I tried and tried to get someone to use some of our property for a garden. Check around at farmer's markets and put the word out that you're looking for a community garden to grow vegetables. Do a google search - check craigslist - call your county extension agent. Maybe you can find space not too far from home to raise a small garden (I'm a huge fan of square foot gardening).

What is that growing system that you sometimes see on infomercials? They are growlights and containers that have a nutrient system? Sorry I can't think of the name right now but I have heard that they grow like crazy!

My dad used to grow all of his plants in the basement under lights! Mom hated plants! I bet if you set up some tables and lights with the right temps you could grow a lot!

If used grow lights in my garage during the winter months here in Alvin, Texas. I'm sure it would work anytime I just keep the garage door cracked abit. Sorry that you had some mean folks do that. Good luck.

I've seen those grow light "counter" gardens in Canadian Tire. Reviews seemed really good on their website. I think starter kits here are $150 ish but would be cheaper in the States for certain.

That way you can have your salad and eat it too :)

Yes, I have seen those kinds of gardens too but they are kind of expensive - I've seen aerogarden on tv too. I wish I could do the kinds of things you are all talking about but either I don't have enough room or it's too expensive. Oh, well. We won't be here forever!!
