I love 1940s rayon - so many prints and colors. I love that you can get the 30s reproduction cotton, wish I could find a source for 40s type rayons, or any good quality rayon for that matter. There is nothing so flattering in a dress!! Amy Grace

Goodness, how does one pick a favorite ?! I am touchy-feely so if it has a soft hand, I guess, then I'm drawn to it..Rayon, Velvet, soft cottons, and I adore tencel denim or chambray. Easy to wear and it breathes; rarely wrinkles.
~Glad to make your acquaintance :)

Hey Grace, I just read that you're into vintage bark cloth, well, I have some that was given to me, but it's not something I'm really into, so would you like to have it?

I love gingham and a nice cotton flannel. I like the idea of a coffin lined in it. My kids are all in their twenties and I still make them cotton flannel pajamas for Christmas every year. They love them. It has grown into a tradition including new significant boyfriends and best friends. I love picking the prints to match the person. Like paw prints for my daughter that runs a small animal rescue and horses for me. I love gingham in the summer it is so cheery and cool.

I like gingham and cotton flannel. I like the lining the coffin with flannel idea. I think I want horses on mine. LOL I use cotton flannel to make p.j.s for my kids every Christmas. They are all in their twenties and they still love opening them the night before. The tradition has grown to include significant others as well as best friends. I love cotton flannel in the winter and gingham in the summer. Must be 100% cotton.

I don't think I could possibly pick a favorite. In fact, I'm making myself some simple, light cotton dresses for the summer and I must have stood in front of the fabric wall at Wal-Mart for an hour trying to decide which cloth, which color, etc. I could have bought $1,000.00 worth of fabric, but restrained myself to just enough for one dress and one apron.
The chief source of failure and unhapiness is trading what you want the most for what you want at the moment. |

And I have no restraint whatsoever! I love silk but.....quilter that I am, I use 100% cotton most of the time. I save those silks and laces for Crazy Quilts.

I would have to save that my favorite is polyester!!
LOL!!!! Just kidding!!! Hate the stuff!
It's so hard to decide!!! But like so many of you.....seersucker, 100% cotton!!
Sounds like some of us have quite the fabric stash going on....maybe we should have a Fabric Stash Swap! I git rid of about 30 pounds of mine earlier this spring...and it felt so good, even though I got seeds in return instead of fabric!! (Seeds--my seconds favorite thing to collect and stash!!..lol)
Anything 100% cotton that is floral or gingham...oh....and like some of you....the 1930's reproductions!!! They are just so versatile in any type of design or project!!! (in my opinion!) |

I love gingham, especially pink and white! Next would be quilting 100% cotton fabrics. If I'm wearing it, I love silk and velvet.
