My husband planted several okra plants. The stalks which are usually high or not growing high. We are getting okra. I've been watering, weeding, etc... Any idea why the plants are not growing high? Thanks for any advice.

Thank you Tina. That must be what we have; dwarf varieties of okra. And, I did not know that okra is related to the hibiscus flower. When the okra flower, it does kind of look like the hibiscus. I hope I am making sense! LOL Thanks for the information.

I have ended up with short ones before too...and they do produce well. I wish I had okra going this year. Our growing season is a little too short and I would have needed them going well by now already...sigh. I LOVE okra!

Hi Jenny:
We love okra. I cut them up and parch them to freeze for winter gumbo's. So good! My plants are not producing that much. But Tina mentioned that I had to pick them often, which we are not doing. So, every day I pick,pick, pick.

| The okra plant will continue to grow all season. When I first start picking mine, I have to bend over to cut them. By the end of summer, I am reaching up to cut them. They'll grow!! |
