We went to the farmer's market again. I asked everyone with food left over if they would be interested donating anything they didn't want to can or freeze for themselves. Can you believe we ended up with 350 lbs of food? We donated it anonymously to some churches and a food bank in the area. I left a little note on each pile that it was from a local farmgirl that just wanted to help and nothing else. Getting closer to that 5000, eh, Dawn?

Oh - Lance is getting in on the act as well - just told me he took 8 doz eggs to our neighbor, a pastor, so he could take them to church. They were small eggs and weighed about 1 1/4 lbs each so that's about 10 lbs.

FYI....Large eggs weigh about 1 1/2 lbs and XL/jumbo eggs weigh in just shy of 2 lbs. Hope that makes the numbers jump!

Dawn,
I finally figured out about how much that 22 bushel of corn was ... we are guessing 132 pounds, plus another Boston Marrow squash at 15 pounds.

Dawn,
This "challenge" has done wonders for my heart. My folks have been dealing with some serious sickness and all of this giving away has just blessed me more than anyone who has gotten any of the produce. You are the one who rocks sisterchick. Thank you for thinking and acting... this was a great challenge.

Oh by the way another Boston Marrow squash left today and was around 10#

Tammy, I feel the same way. A while ago, I posted a thread about my Purpose. All I can think of is making someone else's day a little brighter. Having friends to do it with just makes it a little more special. Thank you for your kind words. I am humbled, and am keeping your parents in my thoughts and prayers. Remember: Bluffton ain't so far away that I can't make that drive...you need me...you just call/email. I'll drive over and keep you company!
