What is it like? what part do you use and does it taste good? I could get a literal zillion recipes on line, but I trust my farm sisters to set me right =)

This post should be interesting. Never had it before. My Granny used to make watermelon rind wine and watermelon rind jelly. Had always been too young to taste the wine but the jelly was yummy. |

Annika, Huckelberrywine makes dandylion wine, she posted the recipe on the forum not too long ago, may 1, if that helps. Let me know if you can't find it, I printed out her recipe and I could send it to you.

The taste is hard to describe. I really like it. Nothing like what you'd think a dandelion tastes like. No bitterness at all. You only use the yellow petals...the bitterness is in the greens. Some people don't like it. I had a relative tell me it tasted like cough medicine. The rest of the people at the table were puzzled by that, and enjoyed it a lot. So maybe some people wouldn't like it. Like any wine, people prefer different types. I leave my dandelion wine a bit on the sweet side. That's the way my MIL liked it, and I made it for her before she passed. This will be the first year I make some since her passing.

NOW you're talkin' Annika! (Big grin) I love MaryJane's books. I stopped loaning mine out, I refer to them so often, I didn't realize how often until it wasn't there and I wanted a recipe or fancy stitch to use, or a picture to show my husband exactly what dream creation I had in mind for that spot over there.
Good luck with your sampling! Tee hee hee.
