I have started making little doll dresses for my booth at Farm Fair. This first one was just a test run of a new pattern, and one thing I don't like about the pattern was it didn't give any directions on how to "finish" the seam so you don't get all those strings on the inside as the fabric unravels a bit. So I decided to do french seams and it turned out beautiful! I love it!

I love French seams too, Alee. They just add that nice finishing detail to garments. Large and small. ;)
I so wish I could go to Farm Fair and see you and your cute stuff.

Hi Alee, french seams are nice but they take more work and exact measurement than the simple zigzag over the seams to stop the ravels.
Most patterns will tell you to put a row of stitching on the edges of the fabric in some places before the seams or you could put zigzag stitching on the edge after the seam is sewn. That is what I do and it works the best for me.
Good luck with your booth...sounds like so much fun! I would love to do something like that someday.

We all get heavier as we get older, because there's a lot more information in our heads. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. (author unknown)
