The smells around here right now are heavenly. I have all the windows open and the honeysuckles are in full bloom and the scent is so strong. We have honeysuckle all around our property and I just love it. So do the goats. But what they don't get is coming through the windows and I don't need air freshener. It's all natural. That and the farm smell, wow! That's all I need.

I know what you mean Kris. Our wild plums are opening up, and pretty soon lilacs will start. Spring time smells so good.

Kristin, how beautiful! I would love to plant some near our bedroom window. I just may need to go to the nursery soon!
Right now we have Alfalfa, Apple Blossoms and Lilacs scenting the air :)

I have some honeysuckle growing in a fence row and it is blooming. Yesterday when I was mowing, I had to stop the mower and just sit there and take in the smells. Our lilac has already bloomed. It is near the sidewalk that goes to the shop. I always stop and take a big whif. One of these days I am going to suck up a bee. |

Careful, Belle! I wish I had a lilac. My MIL talks all the time about playing under her grandmother's lilac bush when she was a little girl. I'd love to find one for her, but have looked everywhere down here and can't find one.
And, Alee, I think it's about 8 years old. I had the hubs build me a wrought-iron trellis and when the jasmine covered it, he started pouting because you could no longer see his fine craftmanship! But it's just too beautiful to cut back more than I already do! Thanks much to you and Diane for your sweet compliment. I really had very little to do with it other than being fortunate enough to plunk it down in the right spot. Between it, the sweet shrub and the honeysuckle it's like walking through God's own perfume store!

There is truely no way to bottle all these wonderful smells, is there? I would also love to have lilac and jasmine. That is beautiful, Cherry. And how nice to have it on the porch. I'd have my chair right next to it. But I bet the bees love it, too. I'm like Belle, I'd probably sniff up a bee, too. Gotta watch those little guys.

Wow Cherry! I wish I had your DH on tap! I could use some beautiful iron work around here! :D
I was working in the garden today (I like garden better than back yard!) and was thinking of how to plan out some sections. I have one area that is kindof long and skinny that runs under some trees. I was thinking of maybe planting some hedges and making a little "shade knook". I think it would be fun for Nora to have some little "areas" in the yard and I was even envisioning a little bench up against the hedges with shade flowers blooming all around! It could be so pretty! I might do it, even though we only rent!

Alee, you could always plant in big pots, that way they could go with you if you move again. I remember having a big long privet hedge when I was a kid and we played house in it. It had all kinds of "rooms" and it was so neat. That was one of my favorite memories as a kid. So every child should have a privet hedge to play house in.

Speaking of lilacs, as a kid we had a May procession at church every year and whenever I smell lilacs or other spring flowers I go back in time. It sure is wonderful that a scent like that can take us back. I love it. The jasmine has always been a fav of mine but we can't do them up here, too cold in the winter. My lilac is going to bloom here in the next week or two, can't wait to bring some in the house!
