I love lilacs too and have an entire row of them in front of my house. My mom and I planted them years ago as a buffer so I wouldn't have to look at my neighbors junk yard (the front of my house faces the back of my neighbors). I also have lilacs on the side of my house. They can be invasive but not horribly so. I have had the front ones for 15 years and I get new starts around the base of them but they don't spread like air borne seeds do. They do have a pretty good root system. Almost all the old farms in the Treasure Valley have lilacs. Almost every old rental I lived in as a kid had either lilacs or roses. I love them both and get to enjoy them twice a year since they bloom in Boise before they bloom here so I enjoy them on my trips to Boise and wait for mine to bloom, Roses don't do well here though, we are just too high.

We are never alone in the forest of Sisters! We "Mountain Farmgirls" are outstanding in our field!

Sheila,
Here is a website that I like. I often purchase fragrance and essential oils from them. I don't always like fragrance oils but their's are true to the scent and the prices are good too!

I mix equal parts distilled water and rubbing alcohol and place in a spray bottle. I then add however much fragrance/essential oil I like. Shake before each use and spritz away!
