We moved from a larger city (1,000,000) to a smaller centre (about 10,000). Just finding it hard to connect with people in this smaller place where everybody knows everybody else. Find they're interested in chatting to get the gossip but beyond that. That's not to say everybody is like that, but it seems more are than not.
Found in our city people were much more open to others, friendlier, not so guarded. I don't expect dinner invitations but really don't like feeling like an intruder.
Just wondering if anybody else has experienced this.

Just hang in their AnneMarie. Sometimes, it takes a while for the 'new' to wear off. Just be your sweet self, and they'll come around. We did experience it to a small degree -- moving from a city of around 250,000, to a small community of about 100+. They were suspicious somewhat, but came around pretty quickly. Good luck!

Thanks for your words of encouragement. I'm feeling a bit homesick too so that doesn't help. Feeling whiny.

AnneMarie, if this ever gets to you too much, just email me, and I'll do my best to cheer you up! I feel your whiny. I was the same way, wondering if this city girl would ever fit in. Right now, I'm in the process of building a raised bed garden, with a PINK clawfoot bathtub as my centerpiece. Trust me! The 'old' folks are really shaking their heads in wonder, but I have at least two of the older generation supporting my efforts and trying their best to understand my thinking. I feel like that's real progress!
