I had told the owner of my favorite junk/antique shop that I was looking for them, and he called this afternoon to let me know someone brought some in. I can't wait to put my flannel jammies (it's cold here today) on and curl up on the couch and read them later tonight.

I'm trying to figure out a way I can keep them yet share them at the same time, if that makes sense. I've thought about somehow using parts of them in mail art, but I don't want to cut them up. I was thinking of taking them to the copy place and making color copies of certain things. Hmmm . . . anyone have any other suggestions as to how I can share these without cutting them up?

I've thought seriously of trying to scan my magazines. I'm addicted to magazines and they overwhelm my storage space so I'm always looking for ways to condense them. I've gotten myself a nice scanner but I haven't actually sat down and tried this project. I believe that once scanned you could view them on your computer and print out as needed. I also think that I would take items I wanted printed in color to a color copy place to be printed out. I think given the cost of color printer cartridges that it's cheaper to have your photos printed elsewhere and I think it would be the same for color copies. Has anyone else experimented with something like this?

I remembered reading "Harvest of Bittersweet" by a farm woman in Ohio several years ago, finally looked up her name, it is Patrician Penton Leimbach, and ordered another book by her from a used book dealer. The book, A Thread of Blue Denim, arrived on Friday, when I opened it up, not only was it signed by the author (in 1988) but I found that the essays were originally published either in her local newspaper or The Farm Journal! That is probably why they seemed so familiar to me, as I usually read The Farm Journal as soon as it arrived in the mailbox, before my father got a chance to read it! I love it if you can find one of her books in a used book store I encourage you to snap it up right away...
