My previous MIA chicken is about to be In My Belly. That is if I can figure out how to complete this whole live animal to food process. Is there a merit badge for something like this?? Anyways, long story short my heeler Tick got to him this afternoon. I'm bummed.
Ok...not going to happen. He is way too small to make the work to eat him worth it. Nothin on him...so I get to put learning that new skill off till fall :) Sorry for those of you who strictly keep your chickens as pets.... maybe I should not have posted this.
Chelsea- I suggest investing or building a "killing cone" From what all the ladies have said they make the slaughter process so much easier on both you and the bird. The gals on here have lots of advice for dealing with this end of the farm to plate process. I know Aunt Jenny has lots of experience here! Maybe she can give you some tips!
Hey Chels.. you so need to call Prosserfarnchick Linda A... she has been "in the process" shall we say all week... she's love to do a little "farm school" for ya!
I have one of those but there is no way I could put a knife to it's throat and cut. I can chop a head off in no time. No problem there. And I always said if it can't produce something, it's not staying. Of course not a cat or dog, but sometimes I feel like doing them in, too!
