This story came across in my "American Farmland Trust" newsletter and I thought it was worth passing on....
Hey Cheryl... looks like Mrs Obama has nothing on you baby.... with your new bees and all................ I totally love this story.....
The White House Buzz We’d be remiss if we didn’t give Farm Fresh News readers a “plot” update on First Lady Michelle Obama’s White House vegetable garden. Recently, Secret Service Agents were caught off guard by the delivery of a beehive, obtained to help with pollination. While the garden and honey production are successfully underway, there may be a new intruder in the form of first dog Bo, since the Portuguese Water breed apparently hankers for tomatoes! “Michelle’s garden is in trouble,” quipped the President

It is wonderful to have an organic garden at the white house. It totally cracked me up when monsterano (MONSANO) protested and "expressed their disappointment" chemicals were not involved. We should suggest a small version of the white house for a chicken coop, and maybe a few goats? Rosemary

I wonder if they would have a problem having chickens, considering they are in city limits. . .lol

How cool is it that the White House has a garden!! I just get all happy about it.
Then I go outside and pull weeds...
And -- does anyone know about some kind of insect that looks like an overgrown bee..but has the shape of a yellow jacket. Saw one this morning while I was sweeping up the driveway. Had 23,304 leaves from the storms the past couple days, and bumped this flying thang by accident. The bug wasn't too thrilled with me.
I was standing there like a dolt, staring at the bug, wondering what it was. But then I realized I needed to continue sweeping up all the fallen leaves...
But who cleans up the White House Garden of leaves and weeds?

I cannot even imagine Mrs. Obama out in the garden with her high heels and pretty dress pulling a weed. Oh my, what a sight! I'm sure there are plenty of garden staff to do that for them. As far as the dog, he better stay away from the bee hive.
