Can anyone suggest where I can get a well made old fashioned egg beater? I have been wanting one like my grandmas and I can't seem to find a good one.

I've seen some in the large box stores, but they are cheap and not very smooth to operate! If anyone could point me in the right direction...that'd be great!

I found a pretty good one at our local Ace Hardware, but it still isn't made like the "olden days" beaters...

I got mine at a Farm Chicks antique sale - it was kind of funny, the lady I bought it from asked what I was going to do with it, when I told her I was going to beat eggs with it she looked at me like I was from another planet

That's funny, I was just thinking Saturday that I really miss my old egg beater. Whisks just don't seem to do the trick :) Thanks April for posting and thank you ladies for your replies :)

Sorry, I got mine at a garage sale. Maybe they just don't make 'em like they used to. Good luck!

Good news! I just won an auction on ebay for a vintage Taplin Red egg beater! :) Sweet!!! I paid 6 bucks plus shipping. So worth it! Can't wait to get it! Thanks Karin for suggesting ebay (don't know why I never looked there before!) and Thanks Michele for suggesting Lehman's...never knew such an amazing store existed! Very fun to peruse...almost too much fun!

I read this post with a bit of laughter in my heart. It reminders me of a time several years ago when my "engineer-bound" nephew was absolutely fascinated with my rotary egg beater! Every time he came he wanted us to cook or bake something that we would have to use that beater for. One year for Christmas when he was about 12, I found one in great shape at Goodwill. I wrapped it up for him intending for it to be more of a gag gift. It turned out to be the hit of Christmas! He calls every once in awhile now just to let me know he used his beater to . . . Who would have thought that 50 cent beater would bring a young man so much pleasure!

Have a great day!

Oh what a great post I am fortunate to have my Grandmothers egg beater. . . along with her french fry maker! I would not part with either of these treasures! Amy, you made me laugh, that is how my friends look at me when I pull it out of the drawer to use. ..LOL!
You get the best work out using one!!

Also could try Craig's list too

I know sometimes you jsut can't beat a classic. And even the newer replicas are too cheap to fool with.
