Keep up the good work, Nikki(and hubby)! Enjoy doing it as you go. I have decided to slow the process and take more patience in the job and I think I will remember to have fun while I am doing it. This is where I tore out the cabinet above the sink. I am going to reface it and make a new bottom for it. Of course, remove the rotten paneling. But I am stuck because I don't see a connection for the propane stove. The line runs up to the back of the stove but I am not sure I can get in there. Mayve I will grab a mirror and see what I can see. :D I got the door fitted yesterday and decided to leave the wood in place (for the window) for now until I get the glass made. I have to keep the bees out. Sure wish this had a screen door, I am going to try and see if I could put one on. My Makita died a final death yesterday so I must get another one today, I can't live without one. lol

Karen, I am so in awe of your very own restoration abilities! I know that your camper is going to turn out to be so cool! I would have to be honest and say that I am not enjoying the process of fixing ours. It is not that I am hating it, but I just want to get the dang thing livable so that I can take it somewhere else and enjoy it.

When we first started tearing it out we had very elaborate plans for redoing it, but now I don't care if it is just an empty shell with air-conditioning (gotta have THAT). I want to go to the beach! HA!

I totally know what you mean. I just got to visit Katmom and her trailers, what a fun visit! Her twin trailer (to mine)is totally down to it's bones! A skeleton! I am amazed at the brazen people I know! lol Yes, that is you, Gracie! Her Scottie is absolutely adorable in turquoise and white, all cleaned up and ready to go on her SOTF outing June 4th. I can't wait to go and visit them in Spokane to see all the vintage trailers. Gracie is a rolling rock with no moss, she been moving rocks and bordering all her lavender, trees and garden spaces, like this woman needs another project! No weight lifting for her, she already done it all. :D She has curtains all completed in a Hawaiian theme for the scottie, with yoyos no less. A beautiful banner for the SOTF and she's collected lots of 'thrifts' to fill her trailer and more. I could have spent the whole day just oogalling (is this a word?). Mostly, it was just so fun to see all her endeavors.

I am amazed at how much wood is in these trailers! I never thought of them as anything but metal. Your photos are so interesting to see! Go girl! It is going to be so pretty when done.

I hope to be able to get a little camper like that one day soon. I can so see decorating one with retro cowgirl/1950's themed items. Have fun with your camper.

Gracie and I think we have split personalities with all the wonderful ideas we get we just want to go in all directions! There are so many personalities in me I don't even know where to start! This camper is going to let me be retro 40-50's since that won't really fit my home. I could easily do lots of other styles too!
The day I tore off the back of the trailer I was approached by an older lady with a cane coming down my driveway. She had a flat on the highway right in front of the house, she asked, "Is your man around?" I said, nope, no man here. She looked me up and down as I crawled out from under the rear of the trailer and just smiled and said she had a flat and used to change the all the time but now at 80 she just couldn't. She came inside and we called for help and I told her I just changed one once to say I did and let it go after that. She still looked me up and down and I do believe she was real surpised I was working on the trailer by myself or she just couldn't figure me out. :D It all kinda' made me smile the rest of the day. I could tell she was a real farmgal, maybe put out to pasture a bit but we joked about our memory problems and I think we may have formed a bit of a bond. Afterall, us farmgals need to stick together.

Oh my gosh! Karen you are really brave to tackle such a project. I can see now how addicting these become as I have been totally wrapped up in fixing mine the last couple weeks. Ican't wait to see how everybodies turn out. I already want a Scotty. Best not let dh hear that. I posted a few pics on blog and will post more as I complete more. Love seeing the work you girls are doing. Grace - would love to see yours. I do need to learn how to put pics on here.

Oh, Karen, WOW! You are a brave lady! What have you done on it this week? Are you replacing the floor? Is that why you "opened the can"? And will the use rivets to put it back together?

Actually the floor is good but there was dryrot under the rear area of the trailer. Just the trim pieces on the wheel well area and the curved areas. Gracie's (Katmom) husband, Gary, is working on the same trailer so he is going to cut the 1-1/2" 4' strips I need to laminate to make the curves. Good to have someone a step ahead of me on this exact trailer! :D I have been working on a quilted wallhanging for my gd for her graduation this weekend, so nothing has gotten done for over a week. But I will be back at her soon. P. S. I posted a pic of the finished quilt on my blog.
