This may look good from where you sit but it is really bad. Lots of leaks and it needs a lot of TLC. I have remodeled houses and one was vintage but I don't have a clue about trailers. I spent some time in one as a child but I have not been around them as an adult. I don't know a thing about this one except that it used to be parked at a lake and has not been used in ages. It was full of yellow jackets, all but one was dead. But the price was right, free. What do you think, should I go ahead and jump in?

Oh, thank you so much for the support, I feel a rosie the riveter feeling coming on! I can do it!....how long it takes is another story! So last night I got into the Sister on the fly site and looked at every trailer in there, probably about 200 or so and there was only one that looked like mine. And you will never guess whose it was, are you ready? KATMOM'S!!!!!!! It is nearly a twin for the one she is working on right now. What are the chances that there would be two late 50's Aljo's in the same vacinity? Same colors too. And this one was just a couple of miles from her place!!! Unreal. And she is the one to get me into this idea. I have always wanted one but never thought about the vintage thing but since I have a vintage home why not a vintage home on wheels too. :D So I guess I can't pass this up, too many things point to this being the right thing to do! And really I am excited!! lol

heeheehee,,,now you gals can call Karen & I "the Boopsie Twins" 'cuz we have twin trailers...I am betting the trailers were twins & were seperated at birth! lol! The only thing Karen's has that mine doesn't...she has a Sears Port-a-potty and all I have is a chamber pot,,,but at least I have a window to throw it out of! giggle! OK, let the renovations begin!

Karen, how could you not go for it....vintage trailers tend to bring out the wander lust you know.... Yes, we have a canned ham that eventually we will get too. We sure do love old trailers.

hey Karen, see ya on Sat... If you are bored (yea right!) come on over on Sunday cuz I'll be up to my eyeballs in paint...sure could use a good painting contractor, lol! as my little Scotty will be getting her interior painted! Cream white semi gloss... So hurry up and get your little "T.T." home so we can get started on her. After all, you need a good project to keep you out of mischief! lol!

Oh, Karen! You camper is too cute! I love the orange cabinet drawers!
I have an old airstream that was so nasty and mildewy and rotten inside that we had to take everything out of it. I used a drill to get the rivets out and that was lots of fun and not at all hard or scary like I imagined it would be. I have yet to replace any rivets, but Lovin' Man is going to teach me how when we replace the vent covers on the top.
At first I had dreams of a complete redo but that was cost and time prohibitive. Now I just want to get the thing livable so that I can use it this summer. It will probably be a work in progress for years to come, much to Lovin' Man's dismay. HA!
I hope that you will be able to hit the road with you camper soon and share photos of what I know will be a darlin' renovation!

Thank you for your votes of confidence, I just love this site!!!!!! Nikki, I really need to tear everything out of this baby but it is not going to happen if I want to use it this summer. I am handy with tools as I have flipped a few houses but tell me about this rivet thing. Do you just take a drill and a bit (which kind?) and drill out the rivet and then what? Thanks for mentioning this as I have not seen the trailer up real close as it is not here yet.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the pictures was that it is so cute! You could do so much with it. Let your imagination run free and have a ball with it. I hope you plan on posing more pics as you go along with it. Take care and good luck!!

Hey, Karen! Lovin' Man isn't here, so I can't ask him what size the drill bit was. Dang it, I am no help at the moment because I can't even remember if I had to reverse the drill or not. Most of the stuff in the airstream was either screwed in or riveted. At first I wanted to take everything out, clean it and put it back in the original layout, but the more we took out the more we determined it to be crap. Ha! Now I am going to just be glad to get a new floor in the thing (it was rotted where it leaks), get the AC working and haul it down to the beach (bathroom and kitchenless) for the summer.
I have yet to put rivets back in, but from what Lovin' Man says even I will be able to do it, so I know that it will be a cakewalk for you! I know that you can't wait to see your new baby! I hope that y'all will make lots of beautiful memories together!
When Lovin' Man gets back I will pump him for more information!

Karen, its wonderful! I just got a 65 Aristocrat this last Monday. I don't plan on restoring it to original as I can't afford to, but I do plan to make it clean and pretty and very useable. Now, only if mine had been free, wow, you did good. You know us girls just gotta have a girlie place of our own. I don't know how to put pic on here but you can see mine on my blog.

Okay, Karen, Lovin' Man just told me that you will probably need a 1/8th bit, but you really need to know what size rivet that you want to put back in. He is explaining and explaining and qualifying what he is telling me. Basically, he doesn't want to be held responsible for anything that might go wrong. Ha!
