Lorie, I am late mailing your apron, the weather and my arthritis have made this week a bit hellish for me. I have comfrey in my yard, I have been trying to get rid of it oor at least move it to a place where it can take over in its own space. I will dig out a couple roots and tuck them in with your apron. Just be sure you plant them somewhere thaat they have PLENTY of room to spread...

I have comfrey. It comes back (BIG TIME) every year and I was noticing just about an hour ago that it is up already. It gets huge but is still small. I don't have seeds, but if a division will work I can try to send you some. Oh crud..just noticed that Karin has some too. As long as you get some. Have fun and be prepared for a big old (handy) plant in a few months!!

Hi Sharon, thank you, glad you enjoy the pictures. I will be adding more shortly. To answer your question, Comfrey is a medicinal herb. the leaves help with healing cuts and bruises while the roots help with all kinds of things such as" controlling bleeding of the bladder, bowel and piles. heals stomach ulcers, helps with diarrhoea and dysentery.

A good herb book will help you with how to use and prepare your comfrey. Like anything... be sure you know what you are doing or have someone teach you. . . I am not an herbalist or an herb doctor... I know how I use it and how often. . . as with any medicine, you need to be careful with it's use.

Wow thanks everyone! It has been a crazy week sorry I didn't get back with you.

Ok to answer all the questions: I am looking for plants not dried.

I met a lady that makes comfrey tinctures for bruises and cuts and believe me with 2 rowdy boys I need some of that. She also uses arnica for pain. I found some salves on ebay but with her instructions and my beeswax I am pretty sure I can whip some up.

Karin that would be so awesome if you could tuck in a few roots with my apron!! I ran across a vintage bedsheet yesterday that I think you will like more than the material I had picked so I hurried and washed it and have it on the table ready to be cut. The lady said it was her great aunt's.

Thanks a ton Jenny for offering. I think divisions are the way it is done.

You ladies are too wonderful!!!

Isn't comfrey also called boneset?

We have 2 huge patches.

I use the salve on cuts.

You can eat it in a salad, but I think it may give liver or heart problems in larger quantities.
