Hi I'm hoping to find some farm girls that are close enough to me to get together.I heard from Michelle(vintagediva)who's in Brighton and I'd love to see her or anyone else coming this way but,it's a
little too far for me to go.I live in Monroe and am hoping there might be some farm girls close by....maybe even Toledo.(there must be some around here,as the magazine sells out every time.LOL

I sure wish it was...some day maybe.Our dream is to find some land up north( u.p. or close) and homestead and be off grid.You wouldn't have any ideas would you? cj6

Melody,can you tell me more about menominee? How many people live in the area?How rural is it? Do they except newbies to the area well? what about us "trolls"? Is there growth in the area? Is it a significant amount? I'm trying to gather information about different areas up north so we can make a good desision about where to look for land.Are there other "farm girls" near you? Sorry, about all the questions,I hope you don't mind. cj

Hey, I am from atlanta michigan. at least it is in the lower part of michigan. right on between gaylord and alpena. I know it isn't close but if you ever come upnorth for a vacation???

| Girls...if you want to meet up in the Gaylord area...I'll travel that way. Came up for the Maple Syrup festival one Sat a few years ago. Gas was cheaper then... BUT I love to go up to the Harrison area at the state park there. So nice, quiet. We could "camp out" LOL |

Girls...I feel your pain! I've been trying to start a local FG chapter here for YEARS! We're all just too spread out across the "mitten" and above to get together often. I'm in St. Johns, which is a bit north of Lansing. Right in the middle of the mitten!
Melody, I used to run around with a boy from up in Menominee. Last name DeDamos. You know him? Always wondered what happened to him.

Frankenmuth is great...I'm totatally up for it. Is anyone into glamping? Maybe this summer when it warms up we could meet somewhere for a glamping weekend?

Frankenmuth sounds like a plan. If somebody wants to arrange it. I am just out of the hospital and can't take it on right now. But I will definitely come and we could discuss what we want to do as a group even if we are spread out all over the state.

Anybody besides me and Michele interested in a Farmgirls trip to Frankenmuth? I'd be pleased as punch to arrange a trip...just need to know when everyone wants to go, do we want to spend the night or just a day-tripper, etc.

Either/or. I'm up for a trip to Frankenmuth. They've got a wonderful bead shop in the River Place (or whatever it's called) Plus there is a cool yarn shop/factory where they spin their own yarn. I was there a while back and it was a quiet day, so I got the grand tour. Very interesting.
Still..up for the chicken dinner OR sausage OR some fudge! Oh and we can't forget the Cheese Haus! Yum! ;-) |

Mother's Day is an absolute zoo at Frankenmuth, so let's rule that one out right away. Is there any day listed that WILL NOT WORK for you? We'll weed out the days that girls can't make it, and then choose a good date from the days left over!
And is Bavarian Inn okay, or does anyone prefer Zenders?

The weekend i would like to take out is the memorial weekend. That weekend for me is a mad house on the roads. Everyone comes up north to do things and the freeways are terrible, but other wise any other is fine. Like you said mothers day is packed!!! I've been there before and it was really packed...

I'm better on a Saturday too. My hubby is out of town on the 16th though, so I'll be on kid duty for sure. I agree about taking out the Memorial Day weekend... Like to stay away from the freeway, especially I-75...

I'll be out of town on the 23rd so I guess the 2, 9, or 3o would work best.
Just a FYI Memorial Day weekend is the 23rd thru that Monday the 25th this year.
Jessie, if you arrange this and get a head count we may be able to get a group rate at the restaurant, don't know for sure but we should at least be able to reserve a table.
Let's start thinking about how we will recognize one another?
